We Create Bloggers December Hop!

Hi Friends!

Happy December! This is a fun month, with lots of traditions, crafts, get togethers, celebrations and for me and my family- the celebration of my siblings birthdays and Christmas! I wanted to share a recent card design I came up with for my last Stamp a Stack class. I was excited to use the new Hearts Come Home bundle, it is just stunning and so many possibilities! For this monthly blog hop, we are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and we create one simple project then show you a few enhancements (sometimes added embellishments) to “Step it up”. Hope you like what we’ve created for you today!

This is my “simple” version using just the die cut for the church on our whisper white card stock. I used basic grey as a base, cut out an opening with the largest oval die in the Layering Ovals set, and then texturized it with the Softly Falling TIEF. What do you think?

My “stepped-up” version is a little more challenging… you need to run the glimmer paper through the big shot a few extra times since it is thicker than our regular card stock. I stamped the greeting in Night of Navy ink, used a q-tip to rub off the ink from the word “home” and then used our Real Red Stampin’ Marker to color red ink on just this word. Then I punched it out with our Pretty Label punch and adhered some lovely Night of Navy gingham ribbon behind it. What do you think??

Here is the ordering information for this bundle: item #146068 Hearts Come Home Clear mount bundle, you save 10% when you purchase the stamp set and dies at the same time. There are 16 rubber stamps and 6 dies in this set, you will get a lot of use out of it for sure!

My First “We Create Blog Hop!” Step it Up!

We Create 2015

Hello there Stampin’ Friends, how are you?? I am so thrilled to be invited to participate in an awesome monthly blog hop with the “We Create Blog Hop” team! (pinch me, I must be dreaming!) I have admired these ladies work for some time, and on a whim I emailed one of them when I saw they were looking for some new demos to join the hop. Thank you Jeanna and Julie for this amazing opportunity!

So the way this blog hop works, is each month we’ll design a card using Stampin’ Up! products and then “step it up a notch” showcasing more advanced techniques and/or more products. Isn’t that a great idea? Well since today is the release of the brand new 2015 Holiday Catalog, I decided to show you a special card that I used for a both a swap I participated in by mail, and then I also used another version for my monthly Christmas Stamp-a-Stack last night.

So it started when I wanted to put the black cat on the new window framelit and thought about what would the inside wall look like to be looking outside at a cozy scene? That’s when I thought of an interior brick wall, and out came the new brick textured impression embossing folder. I then played around with both the chalker marker and the uniball white gel pen to see what look more realistic. what do you think? Soft suede ink was sponged on in a few places to give the bricks an aged look.

So here is the simple version of my card:

I love how the little village looks through the window, don’t you? The Home For Christmas Designer Series paper is a real wow! I love every piece in this collection and am going to stock up on this paper for all my Christmas cards and home decor, I love it!

But to create a “Stepped Up” version of this card, I decided to use some new Real Red Pom-Pom trim (I’m seriously in love with this stuff and think we should have it in EVERY color- who’s with me??) and the new Real Red 1/8″ stripped ribbon and our awesome gold sequin trim is stapled on to the little Note Tag punch. I think this tag “steps up” the card, don’t you?

So here are the swap cards before going out in the mail.

This was a little “teaser” I posted on my Facebook business page to get people excited about the new Holiday Catalog… it worked (I hope).

The funny thing was that I was pet sitting at my sister’s while I was creating these swaps and the cards for this blog hop, and I also made our new witches hat. Here’s a picture of that:

As you can see we love little black cats in our family. This is Louie, it took me a long time to get a nice picture of him next to the hat. (He’s not a cat you can just pick up and put where you want him, it took two hours of waiting for him to come up on the counter- oops… shouldn’t let the cat out of the bag that I encouraged him up there, don’t tell my sister- okay??  thanks!)

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, are you ready to go visit Julie’s blog and see what she came up with? click the “Next blog” icon below: (I have more news below about new Holiday Catalog, clearance rack and Weekly deals, keep reading if you’re not ready to leave my page).
