Hello Everyone! Happy Spring! Can you believe it is finally here? What a long winter. Here in upstate NY we saw more snow than we’ve seen in decades. It’s still here actually, lots of snowbanks and lawn is still covered, but the end is in sight. I’m thrilled to be back again with our monthly Creative Inking Blog Hop! What fun last month, right? (although I feel bad if anyone rushed to get blendabilities markers- by now I’m sure you’ve heard the sad news that these alcohol markers are now discontinued. If you have questions about your blendabilities, get in touch with your demonstrator so she can help you if they are defective or unopened.)
Now on to good news, Easter is around the corner and I love making cute Easter cards for my nieces and nephews. In fact, I picked this theme for the swap theme for my monthly downline get together which was this week as well. I love when I can create one card and use it for multiple events.
Here is the finished card- 2 versions actually one with button and one without, which one do you prefer?
Do you know how I got those fun tie-dye colors?
Yup, you are right- our reinkers and markers! Let me tell you I have been having so much fun making colorful Easter eggs with this baby wipe technique. You take a new (wet) baby wipe, fold it up in half, add reinkers to the area you need (estimate your stamp size or mark it off somehow- you want more ink than stamp- you are making your own custom ink pad!) Make sure you pick colors that blend well together because they will bleed.
We used it in club this month too for our cute Easter Basket and treats- here’s a photo of that so you can see another project using baby wipe technique:
When we made this Easter tag, I only used 4 colors (reinkers): Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, and Tempting Turquoise… but I felt it needed more, so for this Easter card, I added to it:
Can you tell what the new 5th color is?
It’s Pistachio Pudding! Don’t you love how it blends with these brights?? Well, I need to remind you that Pistachio Pudding is one of the 2013-15 In Colors, which means it is retiring from the In-Color collection in just a few weeks. If you love them, stock up on your reinkers, paper and embellishments before we run out.
To make the three chicks on the top row, I stamped the whole stamp in Daffodil Delight ink pad, then used a q-tip to wipe off the flower, bunny ears, and egg… then added color with our markers and be sure to give a “huff” of your breath before you stamp- the moisture will help get good coverage from using the marker as an ink pad. Hope you give this fun technique a try!!
So there are all my swaps for my team get-together. Our Lynnzcrafters team is really growing- we had four new ladies join up this month alone. I feel so blessed with the love and friendships that have been created through stamping! I’ll be forever grateful for that first catalog I discovered in 2004… little did I know that four years later I would be a demo myself. I have no regrets- other than I wish I had signed up earlier! I have met the most talented, generous, supportive people at both Stampin’ Up! and throughout all the groups I’m in. I have wonderful support from my upline and sidelines (like brothers and sisters). I could go on and on, but suffice to say- I think YOU should take advantage of our awesome $99 starter kit deal (pick $125 in products, pick either 1 free kit from Spring Occasions Catalog OR 2 free Saleabration choices), free shipping and all the perks that go along with joining Stampin’ Up! If you want to learn more, leave me a comment- I’d love to have you join my team! We are really growing.
AND- don’t forget- tomorrow (Saturday March 21st) is our HUGE BOGO SALE- my Lynnzcrafters Team and I are holding this at my church- the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church at 816 Route 50 (Saratoga Road), Burnt Hills NY 12027 from 10 am to 2 pm.
