Washi Wednesday!

Sometimes someone else’s cards and ideas are so perfect, I need to share them exactly as is, and that’s what today’s blog post is all about-this post is brought to you from the very talented Sarah Sagert from the Stampin’ Up! 2012 Artisan Design Team

Much like in fashion and home décor, trends in paper crafting are changing all of the time. We often see trends from one area cross over into the other.

I am excited to see change! As creative artists, we tend to craft in our own unique style, but at the same time, we can also be inspired by current trends. By using new and fresh products, we are constantly growing as artists. I love paper crafting and I love following the current trends. Change is good and new products are good!

The first project I have to share with you features the new Coaster Board. I love this stuff! It’s about half the thickness of chipboard and it comes in a pretty vanilla colour. It is recommended to use with the Big Shot dies(US/CAN). I chose the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die for my project. I used the cut-out portion of the Coaster Board, then ran it through the Beautifully Baroque Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to add some texture.

I added even more texture by painting my Coaster Board with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz. This is a go-to product for me! I opened up the bottle and used a small brush to apply the Smooch Spritz. It dries so quickly! I also used it to create some splatter.

More Washi Samples!

Another incredible talent is Angie B. a senior concept artist at Stampin’ Up! Look at how she recently used washi tape (and other stuff):

I am a huge fan of the Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper and the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape. And the little Remember This and That Rotary Stamp is packed full of goodness—plus, it will keep track of important dates for you until 2023! The sticker sheets can be used in the journal, or to make some seriously quick cards (see below).

To make the envelope, cut a strip of 4″ x 10″ Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper. Score at 4″ and 8-1/8″. Washi tape the sides closed and decorate the flap. Done! You can make any size envelope to coordinate with any size card.  You can also use these envelopes as additional memento pockets for the Epic Day This & That Journal—or to quickly make your own gift card wrap.

Notice how I have also washi’d the binder clip? Wrap pencils, make toothpick flags, decorate your cell phone cover. It really could get ridiculous! What will you washi?

Hope these ideas help you see even more uses for that wonderful wacky Washi tape!

My June Clubs are all ready, I’m only going to show you 2 of the 4 projects I have planned, I’ll share the other 2 projects tomorrow night.

This card is made with one of our new Hostess Stamp Sets in our new 2013-14 Idea Book and Catalog (or “catty” for short). The set is called “Simply Sketched” and I was so thrilled to get a set to showcase some easy watercoloring techniques. This card went together in a flash! I’m going to demonstrate to the ladies in my club all the various ways to work with our new Simply Pressed Clay. It looks pretty just white- but I will be posting some of the amazing ways you can color it! Tune in tomorrow for all those details.

What do you think of my little Candy Container? Do you know what this is made out of?? IN the new catty there is a pack of designer series paper (we call it DSP for short) called “Quatrefancy Specialty Paper”. Inside are two sheets of our window sheets with this wonderful mosaic design printed on in whisper white. I cut the sheets down to 8 1/2 x 3 inches and rolled them to fit inside an empty button/brad container! Used glue dots to hold it together, added coordinating designer paper from the same package (punch lids with the 2 1/2 inch circle punch) and a 3/4 inch band around the lip. I used daffodil delight seam binding to tie it together, just have to remember to stop and buy some candy on my way home from work tomorrow.

The winner of my weekend contest (online sales, Stamp-a-Palooza customers and weekend orders) is Amye Spiers! You have won the Artsian Label Punch and gift certificate for $20 in SU product!

Well, that’s it for tonight. Hope you had a great weekend, didn’t it fly by? I am always amazed at how quickly the weekends seem to go, there just aren’t enough hours in them.
Have a great week,
Happy Stamping,

Friday Faves… my favorite new product!

Well hello there! guess what I played with tonight??? Can you notice anything new in this photo? I was able to “Pre-order” some new products that will be coming out in the new Annual Catalog (it launches next Friday May 31st). In fact, I hadn’t played with it until one of my uplines, the wonderful Dania, selected the new Buttons and Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Molds and our new Simply Pressed Clay for one of our cards we are featuring at Stamp-a-Palooza (one more day to register for our very fun event on June 1st in Clifton Park… contact me for more details!) Anyway, there is one mold that makes 3 different sized buttons and another mold that makes 3 different sized flowers. You can change the color of the white clay by either adding our reinkers directly to the clay and kneading it in (knead it very well to mix it in), OR you can color your completed flower or button by either painting it on with an aqua painter and reinkers or you can spritz it on with one of our spritzers (filled with rubbing alcohol and reinkers). It does take a little extra drying time, BUT these new molds are so wonderful- just imagine how you will ALWAYS have the ability to add a coordinating embellishment to any project you are making! *Just wear rubber gloves while kneading in the color to protect your hands… our reinkers will stain your skin.

when you get your new catalog, be sure to check these products out on page 167. The container of clay is $6.95 and makes over 100 buttons or roses, and the 2 molds together are only $7.95. What a bargain!

I sure hope you all have gotten all the retiring stamps and accessories! Only one week left! Here is a link to my online store: and click "Shop Now" and then click "retiring products".
Remember to use hostess code: AQ69YM49 The hostess for this order is Amy DeBiase and she is working towards earning a discount to get a Big Shot. Would love if you could help her out.

I’m wishing all of you a very wonderful Memorial Weekend. If any of you have loved ones who have served (or are serving) in our Military- my thanks to you for your service to our country. My dad was in the Army, my grandfather and brother-in-law were in the Navy. Proud of them and the sacrifices they made. {hugs}
