I can’t believe it is the last week of Sale-a-bration! Where did the past 2 months go??? If you haven’t gotten a chance to earn your free Sale-a-bration products- it’s not too late!
Here’s a link to the flyer as a PDF (you might need to enlarge it to grab the item# for the things you want to earn for free!!)
And here are some cards that showcase the wonderful Designer Series Paper (called Sycamore Street). This is a package of 12×12 papers and designs are on both sides. I have made dozens of cards and boxes with this wonderful paper, AND it is awesome for scrapbooking! Bright colors and fun patterns!
Today at one of my upline’s team meetings (New York Inketts with Deb Valder), we did a take off of Cupcake Wars called Crafting Wars. There were four contestants who signed up in advance (due to an absence, I stepped in as contestant #4 today). There were 3 judges and just like cupcake wars, there was a “challenge”, a time limit and basic stamping supplies. Since I hadn’t signed up in advance, I didn’t prepare in any way, and only brought my basic stamping kit- trimmer, snail, scissors, adhesives and bone folder.
The tables were set with the same supplies: Madison Ave stamp set, clear blocks, 3 ink pads, 1 package of getting started collection (assorted colors) cardstock, 1 package Sycamore Street DSP (Designer Series Paper), 1 ribbon/button bundle from Sale-a-bration, a sponge, and other components for each challenge.
Challenge 1 included a 4 1/4 x 11″ piece of whisper white card stock, a 4 x 5 1/4 piece whisper white card stock, 1 stamped and die cut whale. The challenge theme was “Spring” and we had to incorporate all the elements into our card. Here’s what I came up with:

I was pretty surprised to make it to the next round. I tried covering up some stamping mistakes with some elements… I guess it worked! Did I say we only had 10 minutes for the challenge?? I was sweating buckets let me tell you.
So, I made it to round 2 and this time the challenge was a Fancy Favor die box, a 12x 1″ strip of designer paper, and small strip of whisper white card stock. Deb announced that we should try to incorporate elements from our first project, carryover the spring theme and when we were five minutes into the challenge, Deb brought around a “Secret ingredient” we had to incorporate into the finished product. It was a silver plated frame and 2 mini brads. Well, luckily I made a stamping mistake- and I quickly incorporated the frame to make my flower pop (and cover up my error). Don’t you love it when that works out? I do that quite often in my ordinary stamping… what’s your biggest stamping blunder? Anyway, here’s what I came up with for round 2:

Well I was thinking I’d be eliminated for sure, but the judges liked how I sponged all along the bottom of the box (did I already tell you I was covering up another stamping mistake??) … well I was tickled pick to make it to the final round (deep down I have a little competitive spirit that doesn’t get challenged nearly enough- unless I’m playing oh Cranium, Scene it, Scattegories, and other board games).
So for the final round, myself and another demonstrator named Ronny, we were to create a two page scrapbook spread with 2 pieces of 8×8 whisper white cardstock. We were told to continue to use the “spring” theme and to carryover the concepts we used on the other 2 projects. Oh, and we got to pick an assistant. Of course, I looked up and invited my friend and downline Jamie DeCanio to come be my assistant. She laughingly said to me “Oh Lynnie, I haven’t scrapbooked in years”, well neither have I actually, but she knows my style and I thought we’d work well together. Did I tell you we only had 10 minutes to create a 2 page scrapbook spread??? Jamie cut card stock, cut DSP, tied ribbons, and assembled my little envelopes for me. Here’s what we came up with:

The whole afternoon was a ton of fun, oh my goodness I laughed so hard and really enjoyed the creativity (yes, even with a timer going)! I challenge you to try it sometime, set out some supplies, set the timer and just make something! You might be surprised at what you come up with. Well, I didn’t win Craft Wars, but I did get to take home all the remaining goodies, the rest of the cardstock, designer series paper, the ribbon/button bundle and the stamp set.

Everything can be selected as a free Sale-a-bration item, with each $50 order you place by Friday 3/22/13 at midnight. I sure hope you get what you wanted from Sale-a-bration, I’m planning to put in one more order on Friday 3/22 if you need anything, let me know! thanks for reading my blog. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of these cards, which one is your favorite?
Until tomorrow, happy stamping!
