Birthday Bash with Creative Circle Design Team Blog Hop

Hello friends! Thank you for joining us for another one of our monthly blog hops with the Creative Circle Design Team, a small group of international Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators! Our team leader, Liz Holloway, keeps us all organized and gives us challenges and themes each month, it’s a wonderful source of inspiration! I hope you click on all the names at the bottom of this list to keep hopping along!

First I’d like to welcome  two more demonstrators to our CCDT. First up is a great friend of Liz’s and she is located in Abbotsford, BC. Please welcome Penny Hanuszak!

Next up is a wonderfully talented lady named Juan Ambida! She lives in Australia and is super talented! So glad to welcome both Penny and Juan to our cozy little group!

Since our theme this month is “Birthday Bash”, I wanted to show one of my summer birthday cards that I have created for the stampers in my August clubs.

I had to hold it closed to take the picture. Can you tell what kind of card it is?

Well if you guessed a card in a box pop up card then you are right!

Some of my club members requested a special pop up card when we were together last month and I came up with this design using our beautiful new birthday memories designer series paper! The trick with this type of card is to carefully lay out the pop up pieces before adhering them to the insert piece, as they must fit within the card or it won’t fit inside an envelope. I just love giving these cards to my friends- they are always so surprised when it pops open!

Want to know how to make this card? There are dozens of directions out there, but I wanted to simplify the process.

  • Start with 1/2 piece of cardstock cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Score the long side at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″
  • turn and score the short side at 2 1/2″ from the top.
  • Trim the slots open at the 2-4-6-8 inch score lines to the score line.
  • Cut away the small tab on the top 1/2″ (made next to the 8″ score line) and reserve this for your inside tab for the pop up pieces.
  • If you want more inserts for more items to pop up, they will need to match (1/2″ x 2 1/2″)
  • use strong adhesive (I used our Tear and Tape) on the 1/2″ bottom tab.
  • Decorate sides with coordinating DSP.

If you have any questions please let me know, I might just try a video if there is enough interest! (I have been wanting to try videos for some time now).

I treasure your comments, it means the world to me (to leave a me a comment, scroll to the very bottom and click “leave a response”- your email will not be published!)

Now just click the next name in the list below to continue hopping around the world:

Guess what? I am getting VERY close to earning the next Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip to Alaska! I have until September 30th to earn the remaining points. I have been working very hard since the new year started on October 1, 2016. Of course, most of you know I had to cancel lots of events with my dear mother’s battle with cancer up to her death last November. Then I switched jobs and am away from home 2 1/2 hour more each day, which is less time spent on my Stampin’ Up! business. But the good news is, my customers and downline have been so helpful, and I’m in the home stretch. I am getting ready to announce my big $1000 Workshop, stay tuned for all the details in tomorrow’s post. (Any size order is super helpful, as is a Paper Pumpkin subscription, joining my team, or hey- just buying my  handmade cards from me too). Hope you come back tomorrow for all the details!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I hope you enjoy our hop!

We Create Blog Hop June!

Welcome to the June edition of the We Create Blog Hop- a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who hope to show you some ways you can “step-up” your projects with a few simple modifications.

First up is a simple card that my guests will be making at my Open House tomorrow night- I always like to have a little Make-and-Take featuring new products whenever I have a New Catalog Launch Party. This card features our New Very Vanilla Note Cards! Love them so much! This card also features a stamp set from my favorite new bundle- Wood Words. Love the Wood Grain Designer Series Paper Stack too (this little 6″x 6″ stack is a MUST HAVE- every piece is wood grain, and the front/back match each other! perfect for our little wood crates!!)

For my stepped up version of this card, I added the little rooster, a breeze to make with our awesome new dies! I used one piece of the wood crate and folded it over to make this card front. I used Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler inks.

What do you think? I love to hear from you- just scroll all the way to the bottom and leave me a comment, I really appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment, I treasure every single one.

Ribbon Shares are Here!

With the launch of the new 2017-18 Catalog on June 1st, I have been working on a new Ribbon Share deal for you. It was a little more difficult this year as we have over 50 new ribbons in the new catalog and they are absolutely gorgeous! It was a hard decision to make, but I am finally ready to promote my 2017 Ribbon Shares!

Here are the details of my 2017 Ribbon Share:

  • $50 per person for each ribbon share, plus shipping (or you can pick up at my house).
  • You will receive 2 yards each (consecutive cuts) from 10 new ribbon types, with 34 colors/styles for a grand total of 68 yards of new Ribbon!
  • Payment is due in Full by June 3rd, and will work in groups of 5 people per share (all the ribbons I have selected are in 10 yard rolls, so I need 5 people to make up a “share”). If I don’t have enough to complete a share, I will go in the order that I received payment to fulfill the request.
  • I will order all the ribbons on June 3rd and they should arrive by June 13th if nothing goes on back-order. I will need a few days to cut/wrap and prepare the ribbons for you. My goal is to have it ready by June 17th (so I can bring them with me to the BOGO sale, if all goes well).

Here’s what you will be getting 2 yards each of the following ribbons/colors:

  1. 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon in 5 colors: Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink, and Tranquil Tide
  2. 5/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding in 4 colors: Berry Burst, Emerald Envy, Night of Navy, and Peekaboo Peach
  3. 1/4″ Stiched Edge Ribbon in 4 colors: Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, and Rich Razzleberry
  4. 3/8″ Classic Weave Ribbon in 3 colors: Crumb cake, Soft Sky, and Whisper White
  5. 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon in 3 colors: Calypso Coral, Island Indigo and Lemon-Lime Twist
  6. 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon in 4 colors: Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, and Powder Pink
  7. 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon in 3 colors: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive
  8. 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in 5 colors: Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum
  9. Mini Sequin Trim in Basic Black
  10. 3/8″ Metallic-Edged Ribbon in Gold and Silver

*I am using hostess benefits to throw in the Basic Black Mini Sequin Trim and the Silver and Gold Metallic-Edged Ribbon as additional ribbons for you.

**If you were to purchase all of these 34 rolls of ribbon yourself, it would be over $300 to purchase these with tax and shipping.

Well, that’s it for today, thanks for visiting me twice today, it’s funny how the calendar works sometimes I have 2 Blog Hops on the same day.

Creative Inking- Thankfulness Blog Hop

creative hop

Hello Again,

I was in two blog hops that happened to fall on the same day, today! And our theme here with the Creative Inking crew is also Thankfulness… it is such a great theme, and I am full of thankfulness- for my loving family, the doctors and nurses and medical staff who have helped us with my sweet mother’s battle with cancer and my sister-in-law’s battle with Crohn’s disease. The past two months have been a whirlwind of emotions and change for our family, but through it all our faith is sustained. I have needed a lot of cards to express my thanks, if you saw my post this morning, I used my beloved owl punch to create a card and little house. Now tonight, I’m featuring two simple fall cards that you could customize for any occasion!

Today’s card is for the Community Hospice staff who have given my mother such excellent care, just wanted to create something to tell them how much they are appreciated. I hope my card inspires you- is there someone you’d like to thank? I’d love to help you create a special, individualized card of appreciation.

by Lynn Streifert ©Stampin' Up!
I was so very happy that the Vintage Leaves stamp set from last year’s Holiday catalog carried over to our new 2016-17 Annual Catalog. These leaves are so versatile and there are thousands of ideas on Pinterest with this set. The coordinating Leaflets Framelits dies make cutting a piece of cake with the big shot. (List of supplies is below).  I love this color palette: Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Garden Green. (I water-colored the die cut leaves to give them more texture and definition and so they would “pop”).

by Lynn Streifert ©Stampin' Up!
This technique is pretty simple, just water color (I used our Aqua Painters) the same color ink that you used to stamp the image. It fills in nicely on the leaves. Be careful to not “over-saturate” the image as this is our very vanilla cardstock- just go over once, or the paper will “pill”. For this card I added a mason jar from “Jars of Love” bundle, I have been noticing lots of different colored canning jars out there. What do you think of this version?

by Lynn Streifert ©Stampin' Up!

Don’t worry about going outside the lines, you’re going to cut them out anyway. Isn’t coloring relaxing?

Creative Circle June 2016 Blog Hop

Hi there stamping friends! I am so excited about joining Liz Holloway’s amazing Creative Circle Design Team! Thank you for having me Liz and I look forward to learning about my new Silhouette Cameo that I purchased (but haven’t had time to hook up yet) so I can enter the world of electronic-cutters. So very thrilled to join Liz, Sandy, and Carol this month.

One of the thrills of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is getting to pre-order product before the new catalog goes live. As you know, I also received a lot of new product when I was in Salt Lake City for the OnStage event in April. I’m happy to say I have enjoyed playing with my goodies, and today I am showing you a coordinating card and 3D item. I would love for you to leave me a comment at the bottom of this post before you hop on to all the other ladies blog posts.

First up is this fun Marquee Style Birthday Card, this can be customized with any colors you’d like. I used the softer Very Vanilla card stock for the base of this card and knew that the marquee cut out would look amazing against a brick wall backdrop, do you agree?

I sponged the brick wall piece of card stock with soft suede to give it a grunge look. I peeled the back of the glimmer paper off so I could stamp the little marquee stars and easily cut them out.

Can you see the gold shimmer inside the arrow? That luscious gold is from the Wink of Stella Gold pen, love how easy it is to apply!

Next up is my 3D project- I thought a fun curvy keepsake box with balloons, In-Color highlight and more gold would be super fun, and best part is, I just wedged the arrow and balloons (on a piece of window sheet) within the handles, no glue used, so you can pull them out to open the box and get the goodies. I think these would be adorable for favors at a kids birthday party- what do you think?

Now let’s go see what beautiful creations that Carol has made! Click the Creative Circle Design Team button below.  If you get lost, you can click on their names below to get to each of their blogs. And if you’re interested in joining our Creative Circle Design Team, scroll down to the very bottom of this post and read all about it!

Craft Room Makeover!

Hi there friends! I hope you had an awesome weekend! I’m not quite sure how I was so fortunate to be blessed with such terrific friends, do you ever wonder about that? It started a few months ago, some of my team mentioned they would be willing to help me reorganize my craft room. I was secretly terrified of where to begin… I had such piles and boxes and bags, I didn’t know where to begin, I mean I had to clean out before they came to help me… well finally in December they brought it up again and we picked a date- Saturday January 23rd. Amye, Tiffany and Laurie said they would spend the day helping me and they encouraged me to sort through things ahead of time to make it go smoother. I was slowly picking up some new bins and organizational storage, when I lucked out on New Year’s Day there was a sale on the Stamp-N-Storage website (10% off and Free Shipping!) so I picked out three new pieces that I had wanted for some time. I rented a canister from a local shredding company and have spent the past two weeks sorting through every desk drawer, file cabinet and numerous boxes of “stuff” I had all over my craft room/office. I did remember to take some pictures of the “before” and “after”.  So who are my angels who helped me? Amye Speirs, Tiffany Williams-Hart, and Laurie Kownack  I am so humbled by your generosity, your hard work, your talents and your stamina! 13 hours of sorting, cleaning, purging, organizing… I never dreamed we would accomplish the whole room in one day! Pinch me, I must be dreaming! Are you ready to take a peak at my craft room make-over??

First- I think it would be good to remember what this room looked like in the very beginning- the reason I bought this house in the first place, this is what it looked like in June 2009 (we painted the walls in “Certainly Celery”  and the ceilings were done in whisper white, wish I had gone ahead and painted the built-ins and shelves… my dad talked me out of it, but I think it would have really brightened up the space:

5139_96327201780_2657093_n 1625782_104734381780_8095631_n 1625782_104734386780_3050218_n 1625782_104734391780_2283717_n

Well, over the years I acquired more stuff, bought more stuff, and kept packing it all in this space. Lots of friends would give me things they no longer wanted, and I accepted it all. I had an area for kids crafts for my nieces and nephews and for my Girl Scouts- we do a lot of crafts! Anyway, I retired from my part-time job as a college adjunct professor in May and decided that it was time to purge all my old college materials, as well as decades of financial info and junk mail, (I have already started a new system, so it’s not even going to come up to the craft room).

My staff at work gave me a gift card at Christmas and I bought this lovely pine cabinet from my friend Amy at her shop, Bliss, before she closed up shop. I hope she reopens soon, I want to continue re-organizing the whole house, and I need more functional storage.

So this mess isn’t how it normally looked- the new storage cabinets arrived from Stamp-N-Storage and I was still purging.

I didn’t notice until I took this photo that I still had my autumn wreath up on the closet door…

This is the pile that gave me the hibbie-jibbies… so much stuff piled here on this table.

Another view of the pile… one bag away from hoarders, I was so disgusted with myself for letting it get to this point.

IMG_0045 IMG_0043

just. a. mess!

So many boxes and piles….

No joke, I don’t think I have seen the desk top in two years… how did I let it get so bad?

Another view of the “worst” corner.

Couldn’t even get to my stamps so I started keeping them out on the side.

Jumbo pile of Scrap paper… boxes and bags of scraps.

Chip board anyone? I have saved every piece- you never know when you’ll need it.

Boxes of cards, photos, embellishments, you name it…

A sky high pile of embossing powders, more scraps, tools galore. It would give me a headache to have to “clean up” to create a card. But no more. It is never going to look like that again!

Tiffany digging in and sorting all my endless supplies of paper…IMG_0192

Sorry this is blurry- but wanted you to see the corner where Amye spent several hours organizing all my stamp sets! With catalog in hand, she sorted current/retired!

Laurie started with some of my piles of chip-board. Honestly, why did I save every piece of chip-board from every Stampin’ Up! package of paper??

Progress in the works…IMG_0195

Knee Deep in Paper Pumpkin kits…

Almost done alphabetizing!

Next Tiff worked on my DIY craft supplies. IMG_0199

Since I’m still hobbling around on my broken foot, the girls would drag everything down to the kitchen/dining room for me. All of this stuff on the kitchen island is just scrap paper. Seven boxes/bags of scraps. just scraps. Never again will I save that many scraps!

I took the plunge and threw out a lot of “crap”… broken, torn, missing, crushed, ruined, or just no use for it anymore… the total count of garbage bags of crap that I threw away just this weekend: 16 garbage bags!! Whew, that felt good!!

Paper sorting carried over to Sunday- trying to get some good pieces to keep.

From all of this- probably about 50 pounds of scraps…

to just this one box!  The girls told me I could only keep this one grey box for scraps. So I sorted and kept the biggest pieces, have one bag of just whisper white, one of very vanilla, one baggie of card bases, and one of just miscellaneous extra card parts from previous classes.

I was so happy to find this missing punch and chalk marker at the bottom of the jumbo box of scraps!!

These two boxes of scraps are being donated to a friend who has a close friend who makes cards for the wounded warriers. I don’t know if she will want/need all this, but if it can help her at all, I’m glad to give it to her. I thought of saving it for a BOGO sale, but I’m weeks away from being able to carry heavy things in/out of the house. Not sure when the BOGO will be- maybe end of February- I have to go back to the Orthopedic on 2/22 to have my foot x-rayed again.

After months of daydreaming, weeks of planning, buying storage containers, purging, and sorting, and a marathon day with three hard working angels in disguise, are you ready for the awesome reveal???

Here is the All-New-Craft-Room:

I just love my new work-space- everything is within my fingertips!!

I was debating about whether to get rid of these gray embellishments storage (bought at K-Mart, years ago in their automotive section- it’s for nails, washers, etc.). Laurie worked so hard in this corner- organized all my envelopes, embellishments, bags, boxes, and frames in this area.

Laurie also organized my Paper Pumpkins, retired inks, retired markers and retired reinkers (I use these for my kids classes and kids events).

More hidden storage, that looks amazing now that it’s organized, thanks Tiff!

Tiffany also sorted my retired designer papers and 12″x 12″ papers- this is in one of the build-in cabinets.

My little Project Life corner- Memory Albums in the making- everything at my finger tips so I can whip up lots of albums for my family! (that 31-bag is full of photos).

I love having all my current stamps right next to me, thank you so much Amye for sorting and organizing them for me, and love all the “pretty” touches you made too! I love having them alphabetical by Annual Catalog and then the box of Occasions with Sale-a-bration right next to them, so convenient! Thanks a million!!

Tiffany organized my punches- look how awesome they look in this storage container! My friend/neighbor Marilyn gave this to me years ago- I love having it here and it is perfect for my punches! And all my embellishments are in the new bins. Thanks Laurie!

Here are all my retired stamps, Amye sorted them all and they are in alphabetical order… I didn’t have any bookends, so Amye taped them up with painters tape… hope to find the old-fashioned metal ones somewhere this week.

This is what I’m on the hunt for- I need 3 of these- if you know where I can find some (cheap) please let me know! thanks!

This 12″ x 12″ paper tower storage holds all my current Designer Series Paper (DSP), and specialty 12″ x 12″ papers. Love it Tiff, you did a great job!!

I can see my desk tops! It’s a miracle! I do want to work on the bulletin boards and “neaten” that area up some more.

This is the new “kids crafts” area- I need to put some stamps still over there and need to tweak this area a little bit, but don’t you just love all the white and pink bins, and notice the burlap bins on the bottom? All from Target!

Nice clean tables and without all the clutter it feels so big up here now.

Still have a little work to do next to my desk, but I’m on a roll- can’t wait to get it all done!

Current catalogs, order forms, box of Occasions and Sale-a-bration card samples. The striped box is the Tin of Cards kit and the white box is full of technique cards.

So the top of this file cabinet was full of empty jars, and some dust, and I washed everything down today and put some of my retired ribbon inside. What do you think? (can you tell what my favorite channel is? I had House Hunters tropical edition on while I sorted ribbon).

There’s one new thing here that I finished up yesterday- can you spot it?

I purchased the 60 combo Marker, Ink Pad and Reinker Storage, the Corner Shelf, the Six-Drawer Storage and some kickstands, raise everything up so I have additions surface space, perfect for my paper trimmer, my stampin’ scrub, and a few other items I need right next to me, here’s their link. They have free shipping going on again, on orders over $80. I highly recommend their products!! here is a link:

Well, what do you think of my Craft Room Make-Over? I would love to hear your comments! Any tips for how to keep it this clean and organized? I welcome all your input! I still have the craft room closet to tackle, but I’ll need some built-in shelves for inside there, it’s just a jumbo walk-in space. But I will get it done this year. Promise!

I hope you have a great day! Kinda glad no one signed up for my Stamp-a-Stack tonight as I need to get ready for my team get-together tomorrow night and BINGO event this Friday.  So if you see Amye, Tiffany or Laurie- congratulate them on their hard work! Aren’t they amazing?!?!!! I’m blessed indeed. Thanks for stopping by to read my blog today! Stop back on Wednesday when I’ll have lots of card samples to share with you all!
