Stampin Friends Masculine Blog Hop!

Hi there friends! Hope all is well and that you’ve been crafty lately! This month the ladies in the Stampin Friends Blog Hop are happy to bring you Masculine themed projects! This is usually harder for me, as I can hear my brother’s voice in my head “no ribbons, no buttons, no glitter, etc.” According to him, a guy card is “simple” but I always want to take it up a notch (for his birthday last year I did put jute on his card and he was okay with that, phew!)

So let me tell you about this card, it came about because one of my dear customers asked if we could make a card with a curved front. I searched the internet and pinterest, and couldn’t for the life of me remember what that type of card was called. Then it finally came to me, “Bendy Card”, and I found a wonderful video on You Tube by fellow demo Julie Davidson, thanks Julie!! And then I dug in to create my own bendy card using the stamp set Waterfront (yeah it is carrying over to the new catty!!)

Let me first show you the finished card:

Here is a view looking down from the top: (colors used: Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Garden Green and Daffodil Delight). Used Wood Grain DSP (yeah that is carrying over also!) and love that Adirondack chair die from Seasonal Layers dies (also carrying over, but will not be bundled with 10% savings after May 31st, if you don’t have this bundle, you must have it!)

Now here are some of the steps I took to create this card:

Start with 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ base card stock in Crumb Cake card stock.

Also take a piece of 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ crumb cake card stock to create the 2 bends. First score short end at 1/2″ then cut at 2″ as shown below (one piece is bigger for back row, and one piece is shorter for front row). My tip- do not stress out about the measurements! You can customize these 2 front panels to hold special images or cut outs, and the two front pieces can be left flat (as Julie showed in her video), but I wanted it to appear like hills and nature.

I hand cut curves on both pieces.

Add our sturdy Tear-and-Tape to the 1/2″ scored ends so they will attach firmly to back of the 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ base piece.

Here is the skeleton of the card base with two bendy pieces added:

As you can see, this will fold flat and can be mailed in our medium sized envelopes.

Next up, just hand cut a notch in each of the two front bendy pieces. (I estimated, about 1/4″  or so, just enough to fit inside a slat).

First draw a pencil line where you want the slit to be and then put it in your trimmer to cut. (Test this out before you cut. You want your two front panels to bend appropriately and want the card to stand up by itself).

(So you can see I made a mistake and cut in the wrong spot, but I wasn’t going to start over, and knew I was covering up the front panels with very vanilla card stock anyway- to stamp on). Here you can see that I just held the very vanilla piece up to the panel and hand cut so the curve is an exact match.

And here it is again, voila! Doesn’t this card doesn’t remind you of camping in the Adirondacks? I’m pretty happy with this masculine bendy card, and I hope my club members will enjoy learning how to make this at our June clubs. I’ll be doing some pre-cutting for them and will give them a template to follow along. It should be fun!

I hope to (soon) be making videos, I think I’ll enlist my niece and nephew to help me, all the good videos seem to have someone “behind the scenes”.

Our Stampin Friends Blog Hop always features a card and a 3-D project, so I wanted to use the same stamp set to decorate a gift box tag (thinking ahead to Father’s Day, will give my Dad his gifts in this box, shhh, don’t tell him, okay??) Do you notice the sentiments? Hot off the May 2018 Paper Pumpkin express! I love my new masculine kit! It pairs up perfectly with my waterfront card and gift tag here.

Well, that is it for today from me, I really appreciate your stopping by for a visit, and I treasure each of your comments! Stampin Friends Blog Hop-Happy Holidays!

img_4591

Hello everyone and thank you for joining us on our Blog Hop this month! Our theme this month is “Happy Holidays!” I don’t know about you, but they sure have snuck up on me this year. I want to share with you some projects I came up with for my monthy downline get-together. Can’t wait to hear what you think.

For my card, I wanted to show you my favorite new product, the Stitched Shapes Framelits! (They are running out of these beauties- just read an update that they will be “non-orderable” after next week as sales exceeded their projections, so if you haven’t ordered them yet- hurry to my online store to order yours today).

I just fell in love with these Merry Mice stamps! And bonus- they are 25% off until 11/30- along with all the other stamps that coordinate with the new Stitched Shapes Framelits. Yeah!

Side view, so you can see that this is a fun fold card called a Diorama card. What I love most about this kind of fun fold card- it lays flat and is easily mail-able (is that a word?) in our regular medium size envelopes.

Back view so you can see the pocket in the back for a greeting.

To get started making your own Diorama Card you need two pieces of 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card stock (I used Whisper White). Then, using either your paper trimmer, or the Simply Scored board, score each piece at ½”, 1”, 4 ½” & 5”.  Then you just need to “mountain/valley” fold each piece so that it will pop up! I used the new Stitched Shapes squares framelits to cut out the middle and to cut a piece of DSP for a “framed” look on the cover of my card. Save the whisper white piece, as it becomes the piece for the pocket in the back with your greeting.

Also, I designed this framed art piece this fall when we were on our team retreat, and have finally planned a class around it (due to many customer requests)! There is a slight glare, sorry, but I think you can see the elements I used:

This is an 8×10″ frame

Close up of one of the mice. I used blender pens and our Stampin’ Up! inks in cherry cobbler, garden green and smokey slate.

This is my favorite- the caroling mouse- I call him Chester the Caroling Mouse.

What do think?

Creative Circle Design Team Pop-Up Card… October 2016

cclogo

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for joining our blog hop today! I’m so excited about our newest Designer to join our team- the uber talented Michelle Suit! You are going to love her awesome punch art and Disney creations I’m sure. Today on the blog hop, we are showcasing the very fun Pop-Up Card! It has taken the paper crafting world and Pinterest by storm, and our amazing leader, Liz Holloway, came up with a Silhouette file and sent it to us to create our own versions of a Pop-Up Card! I can’t wait to see what everyone came up with! I decided to use all  new products from the 2016 Holiday Catalog by Stampin’ Up! (if you don’t have a demonstrator and need a catalog, let me know- I’d love to mail you one!)

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

Here is the outside of my card.. does it look spooky?

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

Here is the view of the card as I took off the belly band, you can see the folded insert- it is going to POP-Up…

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

It’s hard to get a full view of the card as it is sooooo big when it is open….

Close up of the right side.

I stamped all the images in Versamark ink, then used black embossing powder and my handy dandy heat tool to emboss all the images. It made coloring, sponging and shading so much easier!

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

I used Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, and Soft Sky inks to sponge and color in the images and backgrounds (to match the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper).

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

Did you know if you want a “softer look”, you can just put some ink from our awesome Stampin’ Markers directly onto a clear block, then pull the color off with our blender pens and you can create a softer, lighter tone while coloring. I love that you can accomplish great shading with our markers and inks and blender pens!

img_7610

I thought the whisper white paper was too stark, and sponged smokey slate ink directly on my 2 1/2″ squares to give them some spooky effects.

img_7603

This is what my piece of 12″ x 12″ basic black card stock looked like after I cut it on the Silhouette Cameo machine with Liz’s file.

img_7604

Decided to use the specialty piece as my card base, can you see the silver embossing on the spider web? It’s amazing! (cut it 4 1/4″ x 11″)

img_7605

I traced the pop-up portion directly onto my grid paper, cut it out to use as a stencil, then shaved 1/8″ off all 5 sides for my two inserts.

img_7606

Our fantastic Tear-n-Tape is the perfect choice to assemble this card, and ensure nothing comes off (I’m sure this card is going to get opened a hundred times)… just strategically place the tear-n-tape on the non-moving parts. (the two pieces that look like arrows need NO adhesive, or the card won’t open).

img_7607

Assembling the card…

img_7608

The four panel pop-up card insert gets strategically placed and I used more tear-n-tape to adhere them to the pop-up card base. Liz’s video makes this so easy, sorry my photo doesn’t show this step very clearly.

So there it is, my first Pop-Up Card, what do you think?? I treasure your comments, and can’t wait to hear what you think of my Halloween Pop-Up Card! (Comment field is all the way at the bottom of this post).

Ready to go hop over to see what Michelle has created for us? I’m so excited too! Click the image below:   http://www.suitablystamped.com/2016/10/creative-circle-design-team-october.html

Thank you all for visiting my blog today, thank you for your kind words and prayers for my family, we’ve certainly been challenged these past two months… we appreciate all the love and prayers. My sweet mother is teaching me so many lessons about courage and faith. Her battle with cancer is exhausting her, and we are struggling with her suffering. The fundraiser that I started for my dear sister-in-law, Kathy Streifert, has just reached the half-way point. Kathy has had a 22 year battle with Crohn’s disease, and is out of work indefinitely. As a waitress in a local restaurant with no sick days, or paid time off, and astronomical hospital bills and deductibles, I started the “Go Fund Me” campaign. You can read about it, and/or donate here, thank you!

Whirlwind Stampers and Some Deals…

Hi there stamping friends! I wanted to share with you a couple of make  & take projects from the other night at our monthly get together at my up line’s house, our group is called whirl
wind stampers and boy did we have a lot of fun!

First up is this gorgeous card by our fearless leader Dania, she used a brayer to add color to the Typeset DSP. The set she used is called “The Wilderness Awaits”, #139365 page 86.

(We were cracking up- remember the trendy popular song from last year “what does the Fox say?” Too funny thanks Amye for finding that song!)

Next up was a card by one of our demonstrators named Laurie:

She use the new stamp set called “Wild About Flowers” found on page 74 of the new catalog item #138728 (this set has a lovely retirement greeting perfect as I have a couple of those coming up this month at work).

Our last make & take of the evening was the wow card by Karyn. Her cards are always intricate and full of lots of Sizzix parts look how amazing this card is:

Karyn use the set “From Land to Sea” item #139361 found on page 83 of the new catalog also the cute Sea Street stamp set that carried over.

This is a real showstopper with lots of fun elements on all sides! Thanks Dania, Laurie and Karyn for your awesome M&T projects this month! Come back tomorrow and see all our awesome swaps!!

Swaps- Fun Folds!

Hello there friends! Thanks for stopping by today! I have a bunch of super cute fun fold cards made by my fellow Whirlwind Stampers at our recent get together.  I’m also going to add the recipes for their cards, but since I didn’t make them all, I just received them by swapping my card (that I posted the other day), I’m really guessing… maybe they’ll chime in here if I’m wrong?

This is a gate fold card made by Debbie, don’t you just love the black and white with soft sky?? love the new glimmer paper!

Judy made this sweet sympathy card, love the colors! (Please note: “I Like You” and “Bloom with Hope” two stamps used on this card are both Hostess only stamp sets, that means you need to have a $150 qualifying order to be eligible to purchase these special stamps. Love the coloring… oops forgot to put in the chart, but she used Aqua Painters to color this in, I’m sure.

Noelle made us a fun stair step card, she didn’t get to finish but I’ll come back and post once I have the card completed. (Okay if I was just back from a week at the beach for one week I think I’d be forgetting a few things too). Love your work Noelle!

IMG_0511

Anne made this fun fold “Z” card- see how it looks like a “Z” (you can really see it when it’s closed). I’m not really sure if she used Aqua Painters, or not, to color in the flowers.

IMG_0512

Dania came up with this super fun 6 pocket fold gift card holder (or it could hold six small gifts). It took a fully sheet of 12×12″ DSP.

IMG_0513

Last, but certainly not least, is this Pop Up fun fold card by Johanna! Look at how the blooms just pop off the page! Love it! And boy you must love us to cut three of these huge flowers out for each card, by hand!!

Thank you so very much for stopping by today to read my blog. I LOVE reading your comments, and please if the creators of these cards catch any errors in my guess work, please chime in here and let us know the correct supplies you used. thanks so much!

Stamping With The Inketts

Yesterday was our monthly get together with the NY Inketts, one of the wonderful teams I am fortunate to be a part of, since I am in Deb Valder’s downline, I get to attend her monthly team meetings. She brought tons of new products for us to see and touch and had over 25 prizes from the all new preorder new catalog items, there were some very happy ladies yesterday! I won one raffle and picked a new ink pad… one of the new in colors, can’t wait to play with it!

The Make and Takes were just awesome- so much time, work, effort went into preparing these card packets so all we had to do was stamp and assemble. What a line up- I have been admiring the wedding cake card on Pinterest, so thanks to Marie and Arlea for prepping that card for us! The Owl card was prepared by Ann and Robin, the Tulips bouquet card was a M&T by Janet (I know she had a partner but I forgot who it was, sorry), and the gorgeous Daffodil Card was brought to us by Pam and Regina. Great job ladies, these “punch art” cards were just over the top awesome!

mayinketts

Here is the Owl Card done two different ways, what do you think? Do you need a graduation card this year? Or just know someone who LOVES Owls (besides me that is??)???

mayinketts2

Well, today’s post is short and sweet, hope you like these cards- and as always- I LOVE reading your comments, and it helps my blog show up on goggle search engine if I have comments, so you’re actually helping me out by leaving a comment.

Also- did you know that more items have been added to the Clearance Rack? Also the Retired List has been a surprising hit- at least with shoppers, some items are selling out. If there was something you needed, check out the retired list in my online store and hurry to order what you need or want.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog! Have a great day! (Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo? have fun!)

Stamping Sisters are Amazing!

bdaycard6

Have you ever had a moment when you are truly surprised, and overwhelmed, and feel more blessed than you think you deserve?? These moments are very rare for me (the surprise part)… I feel blessed every day to have such amazing and loving family and friends and am especially thankful for all the new friends I have made in the years that I have been stamping. Becoming a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator was at first a “scary” decision, but my only regret was not signing up years earlier! Who knew that I would be blessed by knowing such generous, amazing people!

So, unbeknownst to me, several of my downline, my upline, and my sidelines (who I have been helping with their blogs), they decided to create a one of a kind card- it is so much more than a card- it is a work of love and art- and I will treasure it always… Karyn Morrison organized the group with directions and pieces that they completed by mail, as one of my downline was in Florida for the winter (hi Judy) and another was on the road with her hubby and their trucking business (hi Kim), and they all chipped in and gifted me not only with this beautiful card, but also two very generous gift cards that I am going to enjoy using at convention this summer. I am still blown away that you ladies did this for me, and that Karyn hand delivered it to me on Wednesday, so that April- my 50th birth-month, was truly complete. (Yes, that is the cafeteria at Schenectady County Community College- Karyn met me after work, before my part time job- teaching at SCCC).

bdaycard7

Karyn even made a special box (thank you envelope punch board!)

bday card1

The theme of the card was the 2013-15 In Colors and Owl Builder punch by Stampin’ Up!

bdaycard3

Each segment is so unique and sweet and special and amazing, just like the ladies who created them!

I cannot thank you enough Karyn, Dania, Jamie, Kim, Judy, Amye, Jan, and Pam!! You are so talented, generous and I love you all!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Well, I have more to blog about- it was a busy busy weekend, but I’m saving more for tomorrow, so come back and visit me, okay? Leave a comment, would you? I love hearing from my readers! What did you work on this weekend?

Have a great day!
Lynn
