My First Creative Christmas Crafty Retreat!

Hi there friends, I wanted to share photos of my first retreat I held yesterday at the Elks club lodge in Ballston Lake, New York.

Let me give you the backstory, part of the training program I have been a part of for almost 3 years, encourages us to hold a creative retreat. I wanted to see one in action before I tried it myself so back in August I went with my friend Elizabeth to go to Massachusetts to Selene Kempton’s retreat. I got a lot of great ideas and saw it in action, and while I was there everyone encouraged me to plan my own. With only one free Saturday on my calendar for the month of November I came home from Selene’s retreat eager to plan my first one. Everything came together and I feel so blessed. The day I had available was yesterday, Saturday, November 17, which was the 2nd anniversary of when my sweet mother went to heaven. I know she was with me and helped everything to go so smoothly.

I first invited my team, I have 30 downline that was my starting point. I knew I only wanted to have 30 people at my first one. Not everyone could attend so then I opened it up to some great friends who I thought would enjoy attending an all day event like this. I had 25 people pre-register, and unfortunately one was sick the day of the event but we made her all the projects.

I had these canvas tote bags made up as I wanted everyone to have something to take all their prizes in projects home in. Everyone received one package of the festive farmhouse Christmas DSP, the striped burlap ribbon, and a package of metallic pearls. My theme was farmhouse Christmas and I wanted everything to coordinate. When I was shopping on Amazon for the wood slice ornaments I even found a T-shirt to match my theme so I had to get it for myself.

I don’t know if you can see in this photo but there is a fabric coaster for under their hot cocoa mug that I made, the Santa scissor charm I made with Shrinky dink material (I cased from Carol Hickman), the wood slice ornament I had help from my friends/team Kara and Laurie, and you can see all the Stampin’ Up! products that were included in this event as well as all eight projects we made.

In the first two photos, the gift card holders, I modified these from the projects we made at Selenes’s retreat. I love the simple idea of decorating our gold striped bag, and our Kraft pillow boxes, I just used the farmhouse theme to spruce it up for my event.

In the third picture, I would like to thank my friend and downline Amye Speirs for designing that card for me.

The fourth photo, with the sled, I just cased the catalog.

The fifth photo with the mini tea light lantern, I modified the tutorial from Allison Okamitsu, and her blog is called Nice People Stamp, she’s a wonderful demonstrator from Canada and her directions were perfect. I just changed the paper and ribbon to match my theme.

The little joy stocking was from November 2017 paper pumpkin kit, unfortunately it’s sold out now but I bought a bunch back in September to use for this event.

The last two photos showcase our beautiful mini gable boxes one is in silver and the other is a shimmery white. I just created these two designs using the farmhouse DSP & wanted this to be fun treat holders, I had candy on every table that people could take to fill their little boxes.

I did not have very much money to spend on decorations after ordering all the supplies needed for these projects and the little goodie bags. So my wonderful sister-in-law Kathy loaned me all her farmhouse Decor so I could decorate the tables at check-in and where we ate our meals.

We had a little hot cocoa station, I had a lending library set up where people could borrow my stamps, dies, and punches as well as the big shot set up.

I rotated the projects to each table every half an hour so they could comfortably stay at their seat and I then returned all the projects to a table in the back if anybody arrived late and needed to go make their projects- they had the rest of the day to complete their projects.

Everyone received one raffle ticket for attending the event, I also gave raffle tickets every time they finished five projects they brought to work on, I gave one raffle ticket for each $10 they purchased from me from my retired table or my adhesives, or a catalog order they placed with me. Then I had five bundles of wonderful product and they put the raffle tickets inside the bag of the items they hope to win. I also sold raffle tickets individually, or an arm length for $20. I drew the winners at about 8 PM,  Kara won the Stamparatus, Jessica won the farmhouse Christmas bundle, Amye won the alpine snow Bundle, Jackie won the Snow is Glistening bundle, and Linda won the Winter Woods bundle. I used all the hostess rewards, and my commission on the sale of all the products I ordered for this event as the prizes.

I arranged for my wonderful friend Wendy to come and do chair massages, 19 people enjoyed a relaxing massage, poor Wendy was exhausted after four hours, I am so thankful she was able to come and I know everyone enjoyed their massage! Thanks friend! 😘

I have to say the food was delicious, and I’m so thankful to Mike Bloss from the Clifton Park Elks, what a fantastic job he did and we really enjoyed the spread for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I only remembered to take pictures of the lunch buffet but the set up was the same. It was really nice to get up from our crafting table to go to the lunch table.

It just warms my heart to see this room full of special ladies who came out and supported me with my first retreat, everyone shared an 8 foot table, and we had them all near the walls so they could plug in their lights or electronics.

I had some ordering specials for my attendees, and will be placing their orders today. I also still need to unpack my car and now get ready for bingo next week. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who attended, all my helpers, most especially my team for joining Lynnzcrafters and coming out to this event yesterday!

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post today, I would love to hear from you! What was your favorite project? Would you like to attend an event like this? This was a 12 hour day, we were open from 9 AM to 9 PM… Although we did close up a little early last night everyone was fatiguing myself included.

Please leave me a comment, I am going to do a giveaway I have an extra canvas bag from this event and I will send it to one lucky winner who leaves a comment on this post by Wednesday 11/21 at 6 PM.

Stamping With The Inketts

Yesterday was our monthly get together with the NY Inketts, one of the wonderful teams I am fortunate to be a part of, since I am in Deb Valder’s downline, I get to attend her monthly team meetings. She brought tons of new products for us to see and touch and had over 25 prizes from the all new preorder new catalog items, there were some very happy ladies yesterday! I won one raffle and picked a new ink pad… one of the new in colors, can’t wait to play with it!

The Make and Takes were just awesome- so much time, work, effort went into preparing these card packets so all we had to do was stamp and assemble. What a line up- I have been admiring the wedding cake card on Pinterest, so thanks to Marie and Arlea for prepping that card for us! The Owl card was prepared by Ann and Robin, the Tulips bouquet card was a M&T by Janet (I know she had a partner but I forgot who it was, sorry), and the gorgeous Daffodil Card was brought to us by Pam and Regina. Great job ladies, these “punch art” cards were just over the top awesome!

Here is the Owl Card done two different ways, what do you think? Do you need a graduation card this year? Or just know someone who LOVES Owls (besides me that is??)???

Well, today’s post is short and sweet, hope you like these cards- and as always- I LOVE reading your comments, and it helps my blog show up on goggle search engine if I have comments, so you’re actually helping me out by leaving a comment.

Also- did you know that more items have been added to the Clearance Rack? Also the Retired List has been a surprising hit- at least with shoppers, some items are selling out. If there was something you needed, check out the retired list in my online store and hurry to order what you need or want.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog! Have a great day! (Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo? have fun!)

Stamping Sisters are Amazing!

bdaycard6

Have you ever had a moment when you are truly surprised, and overwhelmed, and feel more blessed than you think you deserve?? These moments are very rare for me (the surprise part)… I feel blessed every day to have such amazing and loving family and friends and am especially thankful for all the new friends I have made in the years that I have been stamping. Becoming a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator was at first a “scary” decision, but my only regret was not signing up years earlier! Who knew that I would be blessed by knowing such generous, amazing people!

So, unbeknownst to me, several of my downline, my upline, and my sidelines (who I have been helping with their blogs), they decided to create a one of a kind card- it is so much more than a card- it is a work of love and art- and I will treasure it always… Karyn Morrison organized the group with directions and pieces that they completed by mail, as one of my downline was in Florida for the winter (hi Judy) and another was on the road with her hubby and their trucking business (hi Kim), and they all chipped in and gifted me not only with this beautiful card, but also two very generous gift cards that I am going to enjoy using at convention this summer. I am still blown away that you ladies did this for me, and that Karyn hand delivered it to me on Wednesday, so that April- my 50th birth-month, was truly complete. (Yes, that is the cafeteria at Schenectady County Community College- Karyn met me after work, before my part time job- teaching at SCCC).

Karyn even made a special box (thank you envelope punch board!)

The theme of the card was the 2013-15 In Colors and Owl Builder punch by Stampin’ Up!

Each segment is so unique and sweet and special and amazing, just like the ladies who created them!

I cannot thank you enough Karyn, Dania, Jamie, Kim, Judy, Amye, Jan, and Pam!! You are so talented, generous and I love you all!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Well, I have more to blog about- it was a busy busy weekend, but I’m saving more for tomorrow, so come back and visit me, okay? Leave a comment, would you? I love hearing from my readers! What did you work on this weekend?

Have a great day!

TGIF… Lynnzcrafters Team Stamping

Wow, this was quite a week, wasn’t it?  i love my weekends, so much more time for stamping and creating… I prepared a couple fun cards for my team get together tonight, here they are, what do you think?

I wanted to feature new products, so we are using the new circle and label thin lists to be able to make these cute “swing” cards, it’s so easy! The little leaf file folder card I learned how to make while watching a you tube video from another demonstrator named Patty Bennett. Wouldn’t this be a great card for a secretary or co-worker? It was so easy with our new envelope punch board and stamping trimmer.

Spoiler alert, the little Halloween card featured here is also a card my club girls will make too (in addition to the fall banner I showed you he other day).

Did you see my post yesterday about the clearance rack new additions? Well, I saw online that some items are already sold out, so if you had your eye on something get it quick, and don’t forget to use my hostess code to get the lower price and to be entered to win my monthly on,one drawing.

Well, thanks for reading. Have a great Friday!

Pre-Order Stampin’ Up! New Envelope Punch Board!

Good Saturday Morning to You friends!!
I hope your weekend is off to an amazing start! I am tickled pink that I was able to finally figure out the “5K” loop around my local park! I have attempted to figure it out the past 3 weekends, and today was the day (no offense to Indian Meadows or the Town of Glenville, but some of the trail markers are missing and there are several additional paths in the woods- most likely created by the dozens of campers from the local YMCA). Anyway, it was a glorious feeling to accomplish that and figure out the path and walk over 3 miles this morning. Thanks to all of you for encouraging me on my weight loss journey, I am so very thankful for your kind words and for recognizing that I am reducing sweets in my home. Thanks 😉

If your curious about my local park, here is the map:

On to some crafting news. I have 2 big announcements!

EnvelopePunch
The Stampin’ Up! new Envelope Punch Board will be arriving on September 1st!

  • It creates totally customizable envelopes in up to 66 different sizes (not to mention a million different color and pattern options depending on the paper you want to use). Even tried and true envelope sizes will only take you moments to create!
  • It’s super easy to use; it will go over as a huge wow when you make a homemade envelope to go along with your beautiful hand made cards.
  • It looks intimidating at first glance, but all you have to do is measure for the first punch and from there you just turn and score.
  • It’s small and lightweight; it’s super portable and easy to store. It’s small and light enough that they could use it while watching a soccer match, at a park, at a friend’s for craft night-anywhere.
  • It even has a slick scoring tool as well as a punch that lets you create rounded corners on your envelopes.
  • It’s easy to keep it all together; the stylus storage compartment and two punches are designed into the tool so you don’t have a bunch of little pieces to keep track of
  • The instructions are printed right on the tool so you won’t lose them!.
  • The price is terrific-especially for a tool that does so much! (only $19.95)
  • It will be in next year’s annual catalog, so it’s here to stay.
  • I will be accepting “pre-orders” for this awesome new tool…. don’t want to get sold out (like the magnetic platform)? Order by August 31st, so I can order them all on September 1st and have them here for you hopefully by September 12th… that is the “ordinary” shipping time from Utah.
  • I set up a hostess code for any of you that live farther away and may want shipment directly to your house- you’ll just have to wait until midnight (Mountain time) on September 1st to order it. HOSTESS CODE: XPSSURQ3

My second announcement is that Stampin’ Up! has introduced a new photo-polymer stamp set to their line called “Another Thank You”

B1_photopolymer_demo_August1513_NA

here is the link to the flyer so you can see the images: Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set Flyer

Well, I hope you all have a super terrific weekend! Later today I will be crafting with Dania so we can plan out our 3 stamping events this fall at the Elks. Stay tuned for more details- and don’t forget to save the dates: (all the last Tuesdays of the month)

September 24th: Christmas Card Stamp a Stack (even if you give out family photo cards, these 8 cards will be perfect for those extra special people in your life who deserve a hand-make Christmas card)

October 29th: Gift Card Holders and Giftables

November 26th: Frame-worthy Art piece and small gift box

thanks for reading my blog and for visiting me today. I ALWAYS appreciate your comments! thanks!

Happy Crafting!
