Jumbo Gift Card Holder- Gnome for the Holidays

Hi Friends!

Today is Day 2 in my Gift Card Holder series. Today I am featuring the “Jumbo Gift Card Holder”…. you know how sometimes gift cards you purchase at the market come all packaged up inside sealed package? Well, those usually don’t fit in our traditional gift card holders unless you rip them out of their packaging. Well not anymore- here you go!

Jumbo Gift Card Holder-Gnome for the Holidays:

  1. Cut Balmy Blue cardstock base: 10 ¼” x 5 ½” and score at 1 ¾” and at 6” along the long side.
  2. Cut Snowflake Splendor DSP: 5 ¼” x 4” (front cover) and 5 ¼” x 1 ¾” coordinating piece for strip on top of previous piece. Cut the coordinating piece for inside: 5 ¼” x 1 ½” that is glued onto a piece of whisper white that is 4 ½” x 3”. Adhere all DSP to cardstock. Punch a half circle notch from inside the piece with 1 ½” circle punch, then adhere two sides with tear and tape.
  3. Cut medium celebration dies out of whisper white cardstock. Stamp gnome and tree on the shape. Color in with Blends: granny apple green, balmy blue, crumb cake, smoky slate, night of navy. Adhere to the top of the card front with dimensionals.
  4. Cut snowflakes from Balmy Blue glimmer paper and adhere
  5. Add 5 Iridescent pearls on snowflakes.
  6. Stamp greeting in pacific point ink on inside piece of whisper white.

What do you think? Do you love gnomes as much as me? You should see my Christmas decorations, so many cute gnomes have found their way to my house over the years.

Thanks for visiting me today!

Blendabilities, Stampin Up, Weekly Deals!

Blendabilities Bye-Bye…

blendies

As a Manager with Stampin’ Up! I received an email yesterday regarding the update about the Blendabilities, it made me really sad. I have loved learning the art of coloring with alcohol markers. This morning I posted on Facebook that I had good news and bad news… (the good news is an awesome new release of a Photopolymer set)  and here is that bad news…

At the end of February, Stampin’ Up! decided to turn off the order numbers for the entire line of markers after numerous quality issues were discovered. From then until now, we waited… hoping for good news. Unfortunately, the news wasn’t what we were all hoping for… Stampin’ Up! has decided that the entire line of Blendabilities Markers is now discontinued. Not all markers are defective. In fact many are not, so the markers you have may be just fine. But the percent of those that were defective was growing, and Stampin’ Up! realizes it’s not in their best interest to offer products that do not meet their high quality standards. And the manufacturer is unable to correct the problem in a manner that would also provide us with a viable solution. I am personally very grateful that Stampin’ Up! has such a strong commitment to quality and feel they are doing the right thing. Hopefully they will find a new manufacturer in the “near” future… we can hope right? Thanks friends.

Q & A

Q: Will the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad (item #132708) and the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad Refill (item #133456) still be available for purchase?
A: Yes. These items will also be featured in this year’s annual catalog.

Q: What are the quality problems with this product?
A: When the tip is welded to the barrel, the welding process can leave microscopic (invisible) holes in the marker tip. This leads to accelerated evaporation of the alcohol in the ink.

Q: Are all Blendabilities markers defective?
A: No. Most Blendabilities markers work as intended. We ask that you use your best judgment to determine whether your product is in good condition or if you need a refund.

Q: Why did it take so long for Stampin’ Up! to discover this problem?
A: Over the months we’ve noticed quality issues with this product, but they were within normal tolerance. We’ve also received some great feedback and know that many of you have thoroughly enjoyed working with Blendabilities. However, when corrections and complaints became more and more frequent, we increased the sophistication of our quality testing. This led to discoveries that meant we had a serious problem with the product line. Although these are still great markers, our manufacturer is now reporting a 30 to 40 percent fail rate before they are shipped to Stampin’ Up!—which is unacceptable.

Q: If I selected Blendabilities as my Sale-A-Bration item and it is on backorder, do I have to choose another Sale-A-Bration item?
A: Yes. We have fourteen other Sale-A-Bration items from which to choose.

Q: Now that Blendabilities are no longer available as a Sale-A-Bration redemption item, will our remaining Sale-A-Bration items run out more quickly?
A: With Blendabilities no longer available as a Sale-A-Bration option, it is anticipated that the demand on other Sale-A-Bration items will be higher than forecasted. For that reason, all Sale-A-Bration items (with the exception of stamps) will now be “while supplies last.”

Q: What are the positives coming out of this?
A: We’ve learned that alcohol-based markers are very popular with our demonstrators and customers. Knowing that you’ve enjoyed all of the coloring options provided by alcohol-based markers helps us chart a course for finding a reliable product line that will truly meet the needs of our demonstrators and customers.

Q: I purchased and received Blendabilities. They are defective. What do I do?
A: Let your demonstrator know ASAP. The deadline for returns is currently June 15th.

just kidding3

Onto some good news- Stampin’ Up! released the newest (and last) monthly Photopolymer stamp set. The reason it is “the last” monthly release, is that it was a trial to see if people liked these stamps. Clearly the numbers do not lie- the top selling six stamps in the new Occasions Catalog are all Photopolymer stamps! I do adore stamping with them, it is so easy to line up and get beautiful stamped images.

So here is our new “Just Kidding” set- how funny are these sentiments? Of course this is going on my next order!

And here are the new weekly deals- looks like a nice array of spring products to me!

This is the flyer should you want to print it or see it in a bigger format: Flyer_PP_JustKidding_03.10_US

Well, thanks for stopping by tonight. Would love to hear your thoughts about our Blendabilities… just curious if loved them as much as me?

Thanks,

Creative Inking Blog Hop…

creative hop

Hello Stamping Friends!

Welcome to the first Creative Inking Blog Hop endeavor featuring 13 talented Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. We are excited to share our stamping and papercrafting ideas featuring the amazing products by Stampin’ Up!  A blog hop is a chance to go visit some other blogs that you may not have visited before. It is an excellent opportunity to see a lot of different styles of crafting. I have been following these other 12 demonstrators for several months and they do great work, I’m sure you’re going to enjoy our new monthly Blog Hop!

You should have just arrived here from Colleen Vassos and her blog.  I have never met the other 12 talented demonstrators, but our common denominator is the uber amazing and talented Patsy Waggoner! (I did get to meet her at Convention last year)!  She is a Stampin’ Up! Rock Star who helps create, support and update blogs for other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. Here is her contact info: www.blogsbypatsy.com (in case you need some blogging help). I joined her Facebook group and I learn so much about blogging  just from being a member of that private group. Anyway, another demonstrator suggested we try a blog hop, and since it was one of my New Year’s Resolutions, I signed up right away. We’ve been planning this since just after Christmas. We have a theme for each month, and we’ll be linking up with these cute blog hop graphics made by Amber Swift. So be sure to mark your calendar- we will go live at 12:01 am Central Time on the 20th of each month. (Which is 1:01 am Eastern Time).

Without further ado, here is my post for today. The topic is: Color the World with Blendabilties  isn’t this an awesome theme? I’m ready for more bright colors (and so tired of the snow here in Upstate NY)!

blog hop 3

I came up with two slightly different cards to share with you today. They both use the new stamp set Indescribable Gift from our 2015 Occasions (“Spring”) mini catalog. This stamp set has three sentiments for Easter card making, but I decided to use just the flowers for this blendabilities post. I wanted to do this card in two color options, thinking this looked like a sprig of cherry blossoms, what do you think?

blog hop 4

First up is the card colored in Pink Pirouette blendabilities (aka “blendies” for short). In the catalog, there is a photo of this technique- using the soft sky blendies to outline the floral design, it gives it a little pop of color, don’t you think? I love the new Hello You thinlit dies, I just needed to trim off a small piece at the end of the letter “s” so it would fit in an envelope.

blog hop1

Here is a close up so you can see how I layered the light and medium blendies for each of the three colors used on the floral image: Pink Pirouette, Old Olive, and Crumb Cake. Only the lightest soft sky was used for the outline.

blog hop 5

Next up is the same floral image, this time colored with Calypso Coral, Old Olive and Crumb Cake. I omitted the soft sky outline on this one, as I thought this was “just enough”- what do you think?

blog hop2

I like to start with the lightest color in the set of blendabilities and then apply medium, and sometimes I go back with the darkest color- but I didn’t use that on this card.

*There is still time to “earn” some free items during Stampin’ Up!’s annual Sale-a-bration- a customer rewards event that only comes around once a year. This year Stampin’ Up! has added our original 12 Blendabilities colors to the mini catalog of free choices- you get 1 free item with every $50 products purchased. There are awesome stamp sets, designer series paper, Project Life cards (I blogged about those the other day see this post if you want to take a peek at those awesome SAB items). Let me know if you have any questions about Sale-a-bration, and if you’d like to try to earn some of these awesome products for free!

Well, that’s all I have for you today, I would love to hear from you, I read and reply to every comment. Do you love our new Blendabilities as much as I do?? Here’s an important reminder/tip for all of you who have purchased them (or earned some free from SAB)… remember to store them flat, and double (or triple check) that the cap is applied tightly, you should hear a click… if the cap is not put on tightly and completely, these markers will dry out. I’ve had more than one of these dry up after a stamp camp or class, so I’m now being extra vigilant after others use them. Also, have a scrap paper under the image you are coloring, they do bleed through. Also, you will definitely want to use our Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (not Stazon) so that the ink doesn’t bleed. Hope those tips help!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, click the “next button” below and you will hop on over to the amazing Phyllis Shepherd’s blog.

I realized after I posted that blog that I had written my deal idea down in my handy dandy notebook, but I hadn’t told you about it yet! Ooops, sorry about that! I keep a little notebook and jot down ideas all the time- but this time I forgot to put the idea into action.

Christmas Stamp-a-Stack Tonight!

Spoiler alert- here are the two cards we will be making tonight at my third in the series “Last Monday”… this is a Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack which I started in August. Every month we make 10 cards, five each of two designs. I try to balance the difficulty level with the number of people here, making decisions about which stamps and products to use takes some juggling because I have a philosophy about not repeating cards (I try to avoid it as much as possible, unless there is a request to repeat, which does happen from time to time). Anyway, I have not used my new Wondrous Wreath stamp set for any Christmas cards yet, hard to believe I had only made one fall card with them. I found an adorable inspiration card on Pinterest by Tina R. and I modified her design a little bit to work for this class, what do you think?

IMG_1882

And here are the supplies I used to  make this card:

The second card for tonight was also inspired by Pinterest, this one was an awesome winter night interpretation using my favorite new set “Holiday Home”, the original card design was by Dolly W.  What do you think of this card?

IMG_1883

This was a cinch to make with our  new blendabilities. I love the warm glow of light pouring through the windows, don’t you?

Here are the supplies I used for this card (plus the big shot and magnetic platform again):

Well, I hope my stamping friends are ready for some sponging, cutting and night of fun paper crafting! I picked up some cookies and will be looking forward to some more Christmas creativity!

Maybe you’d like to make these cards? I’d be happy to plan a gathering with you and your friends, maybe a Stamp and Sip or Girls Night Out? Let me know, I have a few dates available within the next month and would be happy to help you earn free Stampin’ Up! products.
Hope you all have a very Happy Monday! Thanks for stopping by to visit my blog today. Would love to hear from YOU- which card do you like better today?? thanks!!

It’s a Cherry Cobbler Christmas

Hi Friends! I hope you had a super great weekend! I know I sure did!

I wanted to share with you the two cards my stamping friends are going to make tonight at my first Christmas Stamp-a-Stack Class of the season! I didn’t intend to do both cards using Cherry Cobbler blendabilities, but I somehow either loaned, or lost, my circle framelits, so I had to come up with another card quick. (if you borrowed them please let me know as I am losing my mind over it!) thanks.

IMG_0768

The cardinal card was a “CASE” (Copy And Share Everything) from another talented demonstrator named Pam (I goggled her and found her facebook page called Pam’s Paper Playhouse). I made some slight changes to use the products I had available for the class. Both cards feature our new blendabilities (alcohol markers) and boy, do they just make all the difference in the world! The Joyful Christmas poinsetta stamp set will retire for good on Wednesday August 27th, sniff, sniff … so I had to use it one more time.

IMG_0763

Here are the supplies I used to make the cardinal card:

I did make a “mask” using a post-it note of the cardinal, so when I sponged the Lost Lagoon ink all over the whisper white paper, I didn’t want it on the bird.  It was really fun to make this card, I hope my friends like it too. Thanks to Pam for creating such a great masterpiece!

Next up is my favorite stamp set from the 2013 Holiday Catalog, and it has been on the “Carry Over List” and will retire on Wednesday August 27th. Here’s the list if you want to see what else is going away (there is a super nice Hanukkah stamp set in there!)    Carry-Over Holiday List

Here are the supplies I used for this card:

My Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack is the last Monday of the month from now to Thanksgiving. It is 10 cards per night, for $20 and as you can see there are two designs, stampers will make 5 of each one. I have room in the September, October and November class, so if you’d like to sign up- contact me for registration information. RSVP and payment is required at least 5 days before the event.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, and if you need to purchase any of these, or any other items, please remember to use the August Hostess Code if you do online shopping with me: YA7CNZND

Blendabilities Class!

Hi There! I wanted to share with you the three cards I came up with to showcase the Blendabilities Bundle that I offered last month. Six wonderful women took me up on my offer and they will be joining me this week for a FREE coloring class, and they will get to make these three cards!

IMG_0364

IMG_0365

I was very happy to see Vivid Vases carry-over from our spring catalog, it is a great stamp to start learning to color using blendabilities. The vases just lend themselves to needing “blending”…

IMG_0366

This card was inspired by another demonstrator, Jan Tink, I just loved her color combinations and use of the camera paper. I changed my card up a tad bit.

IMG_0367

I think Blended Bloom is one of the nicest single stamps we’ve ever offered, it is so versatile and perfect for practicing with Blendabilities! the shading and color combinations are endless!!

IMG_0368

In case you want to try to make these cards yourself, here are the ingredients for these three cards:

Blendabilities Alcohol Markers are now available!  I am so excited the wait is over! My July club ladies are going to enjoy coloring with these awesome new markers!!

Earlier this spring, Stampin Up allowed demonstrators to purchase the Blendabilities Alcohol Markers on pre-release. I love these markers and I must say, they are really fabulous as well as cost friendly. When I compared them to other alcohol markers I was very impressed.

blendies

Blendabilities are dual tipped one end is a fine point and the other is a brush tip, the colors are vibrant and rich, Stampin Up has pulled out all the stops with this one.

Stampin Up has equipped the Blendabilities with the best features of other markers into one marker. They have also taken the guess work out of trying to find like color shades that will allow me to get that progressive blend from dark to light or light to dark.

With the Blendabilities you will get 3 coordinating shades of one color for each color group. If you have the Cherry Cobbler Ink, Card Stock and ribbon you now can color an image using the Cherry Cobbler Alcohol markers to blend your image, it will come in dark, medium and light shades all for 11.95. Yes, that’s 3 markers for $11.95!

If you are familiar with the other alcohol markers out there you know that they run about $7-$8 for one marker. With Blendabilities you will get 3 coordinating shades of each color group, that’s 3 alcohol markers in dark, medium and light.

Stampin Up has released the markers for sale to customers, beginning today, July 1st!

I look forward to sharing craft and card ideas using these fabulous markers.

What Sets Them Apart:

The Stampin’ Up! rectangular barrel keeps your markers from rolling away!
Flat storage helps to maintain the life of each marker.
Each marker comes with a tip on each end: brush and fine.
Marker tips are made of nylon, which is superior to polyester which can fray.
Color coded caps.
Stampin’ Up! markers coordinate wonderfully with our cardstock, and can be used with transparent sheets.
Stampin Up will release the other 6 colors listed in the annual catalog next month.
