Birthday Bash with Creative Circle Design Team Blog Hop

Hello friends! Thank you for joining us for another one of our monthly blog hops with the Creative Circle Design Team, a small group of international Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators! Our team leader, Liz Holloway, keeps us all organized and gives us challenges and themes each month, it’s a wonderful source of inspiration! I hope you click on all the names at the bottom of this list to keep hopping along!

First I’d like to welcome  two more demonstrators to our CCDT. First up is a great friend of Liz’s and she is located in Abbotsford, BC. Please welcome Penny Hanuszak!

Next up is a wonderfully talented lady named Juan Ambida! She lives in Australia and is super talented! So glad to welcome both Penny and Juan to our cozy little group!

Since our theme this month is “Birthday Bash”, I wanted to show one of my summer birthday cards that I have created for the stampers in my August clubs.

I had to hold it closed to take the picture. Can you tell what kind of card it is?

Well if you guessed a card in a box pop up card then you are right!

Some of my club members requested a special pop up card when we were together last month and I came up with this design using our beautiful new birthday memories designer series paper! The trick with this type of card is to carefully lay out the pop up pieces before adhering them to the insert piece, as they must fit within the card or it won’t fit inside an envelope. I just love giving these cards to my friends- they are always so surprised when it pops open!

Want to know how to make this card? There are dozens of directions out there, but I wanted to simplify the process.

  • Start with 1/2 piece of cardstock cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Score the long side at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″
  • turn and score the short side at 2 1/2″ from the top.
  • Trim the slots open at the 2-4-6-8 inch score lines to the score line.
  • Cut away the small tab on the top 1/2″ (made next to the 8″ score line) and reserve this for your inside tab for the pop up pieces.
  • If you want more inserts for more items to pop up, they will need to match (1/2″ x 2 1/2″)
  • use strong adhesive (I used our Tear and Tape) on the 1/2″ bottom tab.
  • Decorate sides with coordinating DSP.

If you have any questions please let me know, I might just try a video if there is enough interest! (I have been wanting to try videos for some time now).

I treasure your comments, it means the world to me (to leave a me a comment, scroll to the very bottom and click “leave a response”- your email will not be published!)

Now just click the next name in the list below to continue hopping around the world:

Guess what? I am getting VERY close to earning the next Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip to Alaska! I have until September 30th to earn the remaining points. I have been working very hard since the new year started on October 1, 2016. Of course, most of you know I had to cancel lots of events with my dear mother’s battle with cancer up to her death last November. Then I switched jobs and am away from home 2 1/2 hour more each day, which is less time spent on my Stampin’ Up! business. But the good news is, my customers and downline have been so helpful, and I’m in the home stretch. I am getting ready to announce my big $1000 Workshop, stay tuned for all the details in tomorrow’s post. (Any size order is super helpful, as is a Paper Pumpkin subscription, joining my team, or hey- just buying my  handmade cards from me too). Hope you come back tomorrow for all the details!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I hope you enjoy our hop!

Stampin Friends Birthday Surprise Blog Hop!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to our April installment of the Stampin Friends Blog Hop! First, let’s welcome our guest hopper this month, it is Jennifer Knape Cerizo! I can’t wait to see her creations! Welcome Jennifer!! And if you’ve arrived here from Lana Staab’s blog- thanks for joining me!

This month our theme is Birthday Surprise! I thought I would showcase some of my favorite retiring products! Day at the Beach is from our outgoing 2017 Occasions Catalog and Endless Wishes is from the 2016-17 Annual Catalog.

I started with our watercolor paper and stamped with Stazon black ink. Then I use our watercolor pencils to color in the images. I use the greetings from “endless wishes” and stamped with Versamark ink on black card stock and embossed with whisper white powder and our heat tool.

Of course a little wink of Stella helps make the images pop!

This card will be one of the greeting cards we feature in our upcoming stamp camp on April 29, it is easily customizable to any greeting you will need!

Just added a little flap at the bottom of the insert so it would hold a gift card!

My birthday surprise card and mini-treat bag coordinate beautifully and feature our brights color collection.

So what do you think? Can you believe most of these products are going away? Hurry if you want to get your hands on them, before they’re gone forever!

Ready to go check out what the rest of the bloggers have created this month? Just click each name in the list below. Have fun!

Click this image to see a list of items that are totally SOLD OUT, (also- check my website for updates as this list might have changed since yesterday): *Note Stampin’ Up! plans to manufacture stamp sets up to May 22nd, but all others are only available while supplies last.

Creative Inking- March Hop!

creative hop

Hello stamping friends! Welcome to our March Creative Inking Blog Hop! The theme this month is #imbringingbirthdaysback (remember when I told you about the movement, the stamp, the mission?? (if not, click here to read the original post). I have to admit, I made a mistake by hitting publish (instead of “save”) back on March 12th- that was the day I was starting to put together the content for today’s post.  Once you publish a blog post, you can’t recall it (my only option was to edit or delete it) and I didn’t want to have to re-type that content again.  So now you already know about Shannon West’s creation and I can jump right into my birthday cards and projects for today!

IMG_1536

My three cards were inspired my the cute little 6″ x 6″ paper stack called “Have a Cuppa”, it coordinates with the new bundle “A Nice Cuppa” stamp set and “Cups and Kettles” framelits. I love the colors in this pad of paper: Basic Grey, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, and Whisper White. I started experimenting with the stamp set “Balloon Celebration” and the coordinating punch – the Balloon Bouquet Punch!

IMG_1537

I took a few hours to just play with the stamp set a few weeks ago, and played around with all the papers, all the stamps to come up with a coordinating set of cards that I could use for this blog post.

IMG_1538

Here’s a little secret- it took me about 6 tries before I got a card design I was happy with, here is a rejected card- see how the balloon strings don’t line up? I also didn’t like mixing the fine tip of the marker with the stamped image.

IMG_1539

Sometimes I play around and make lots of elements (ie: balloons) and then play around with various backgrounds until I’m happy with it. Here you can see the two-step stamped images with the large and small balloons from this bundle. Notice the watercolor wash background? That is pool party ink watercolored onto the shimmer white cardstock. I thought it would pop.

IMG_1540

I loved how this idea came out, notice the thin silver metallic thread? I started using it under the balloon punch-outs, then decided to use it for the balloon strings and bow, I really liked how this came out, what do you think?

IMG_1541

Decided to keep this first card CAS (clean and simple). Love the colors together, didn’t even use the DSP on this card!

IMG_1542

Here is my first card stamped with the #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp! Love it! Shout out to my downline Sharon, she stayed up until 2 am EST the day Stampin’ Up! launched the sale of this stamp, so she could order it for me, what a great friend! Thanks Sharon!

IMG_1545

Next up, this card uses the same Pool Party watercolor wash on shimmer white paper, but decided to try the bunch of balloons out of the DSP and stamped images. What do you think of the mixture?

IMG_1546

decided to stamp a sweet little balloon inside this card with the #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp.

IMG_1543

Last, but not least, tried the cloud stamps and added some bling with the bermuda bay sequin trim glued down strategically.

We Create Blog Hop- March!

WCBH2016

Hi There Crafty Friends! How are you doing? I don’t know how it got to be March, do you? I’m pretty happy that the winter months are going so quickly! Some of my bulbs are making an appearance and I even hear the birds chirping in the morning as my alarm goes off. Fingers crossed for an early spring here in Upstate NY!

For today’s creation I want to share with you a few stamp sets that I paired together for the hop. While I was working on the cards over the weekend, I also decided to use this ice cream cone card for one of my cards at the senior center. I know they always love birthday cards, but I also had a request for St. Patrick’s Day cards, as in plural, well we don’t have anything current in the Stampin’ Up! catalog that screams St. Patrick’s Day to me, so I thought a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone was a good idea- she can stamp Happy St. Patrick’s Day on the inside.

IMG_1069

First up is the CAS card (Clean And Simple), this card features crumb cake card stock as the matte, (base is very vanilla), the 2″ strip was punched with the scalloped tag topper punch, I stamped the ice cream cone from Honeycomb Happiness stamp set (this is a Sale-a-bration selection free with a $50 order). I used the crumb cake marker to color in the cone. Then I stamped the ice cream two times on a scrap of very vanilla paper and colored it in with the mint macaron marker. Hand-cutting the two scoops took no time at all. Then I stamped the “Happy Day” greeting from another Saleabration stamp set called “Perfect Pairings”.  Just love these two together. According to my nephew and my brother, this card is an “acceptable” masculine card- no bling, no ribbon, no buttons, no flowers, no pink, and no embellishments (they are plain and simple guys so I like to get their input when I’m working on CAS cards for guys).

Next up is the “Step It Up” Card!

IMG_1068

I used the same color palette of very vanilla, crumb cake, mint macaron and chocolate chip. The designer series paper is from the package of Timeless Elegance. On this card, I wanted to watercolor the ice cream cone and ice cream, so I pulled out the watercolor paper. This is such a breeze to work with- no pilling of the paper, and it’s very sturdy! I used the liquid tombo glue to adhere all the pieces together. The sprinkles are from “Party with Cake” stamp set in the 2016 Occasions Catalog.

IMG_1066

Here are the two cards side-by-side. What do you think? I’d love to hear which one you like the most! Leave me a comment- I LOVE to hear from YOU!

We Create Blog Hop-January 2016

WCBH2016

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday! The Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in the “We Create Blog Hop” are back for another round of amazing inspiration for you all.. Bonus- today is the day the NEW 2016 Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-Bration Catalogs both launch! How fun to create using all new products! Another perk of being a demonstrator- I’ve received my products in early December  and made my December birthday cards with the all new adorable birthday suites. Want to see what I made for my nephew’s birthday on Sunday?

In this blog hop we do one project and then another version is “stepped up”, this time I started Blake’s birthday card and thought I was done, but realized the other day I could use this to showcase a “stepped up” version of a birthday card:

IMG_9860

So I decided on the new jumbo pack of Designer Series Paper called “It’s My Party” (48 pages of 12″ x 12″) item #140552

IMG_9861

I knew I was going to put 10 candles on his cake- so easy with the new mini punch trio called “Party Punch Pack” (YES- it’s a bundle with the stamp set I used!) I love that they have a balloon, cupcake and candle punch! To create the realistic candle- you know with a yellow flame- it is impossible to put these tiny pieces together with anything else… only the new Fine-tip glue pen did the job!

IMG_9862

Here was my first version of Blake’s birthday card… This stamp set is called “Party Wishes” and is just fabulous!  It is part of the new birthday suite called “It’s My Party!” and I LOVE how everything coordinates!!

IMG_9863

I knew I could “Step it up” some more, so I went to work and added the number 10 from the new stamp set called “Number of Years” which is an awesome photopolymer stamp set- so easy to see through and stamp. Then it is die-cut with the new “Large Numbers Framelits” these dies are expected to be a huge seller- you might want to order these today before they go on back order- I guess Stampin’ Up! didn’t realize how popular they would be amongst demonstrators.

IMG_9864

I also decided to “step it up” some more, and added a balloon from the new SaleABration set called Honeycomb Happiness. This is an adorable set- but the honeycombs are also expected to be backordered soon- so if you love it, hurry and order it today!

IMG_9865

Since the honeycomb would become flattened inside an envelope, I decided to design a gift bag to hold his card and gift card together…. love the new “Hello” limited time SaleABration item (this stamp set is only available until February 15th, 2016).

IMG_9866

I had to decorate the inside… love those balloons again! So what do you think? I hope you like it! Thank you so much for visiting my blog today, if you’re ready to hop over to Julie’s blog to see what she created, go ahead and click the “next” button below. If you need the supply list or a link to the catalogs, scroll down as I put all that info at the bottom of this post. Thanks so much, have an awesome day!

Creative Inking December Blog Hop- New Occasions and Sale-a-Bration Sneak Peek!

creative hopHi Friends,

Welcome to another month of the Creative Inking Blog Hop!! Are you ready for Christmas? I have not finished my shopping yet, and today is my brother and sister’s birthday (yes they are twins), so when I saw the theme for the month was our new Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-Bration mini catalog- I knew I was going to feature their birthday cards! With birthdays so close to Christmas, they made their feelings known when they were small children- no Christmas colors or Christmas gifts for their birthday! I try very hard to honor that wish.

ssbday1

I used the new stamp set “Party Wishes” from our newest birthday suite!

ssbday2 ssbday4

First up is my dear sister Sue’s card- what do you think of the inside? I sponged a shape with the reverse piece from our label framelit. I think it makes the inside pop.

ssbday3 ssbday5

I went to another stamp set, “Going Global” for my inside greeting. I was looking for a masculine look for my brother Scott’s card. Love the world map as my background, that is from Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack! (those little stacks are so economical and great for making lots of cards!!).

So here are the new products I used for their birthday cards:

So what do you think? I’m sure you are going to LOVE all the new products Stampin’ Up! has featured in our new mini catalog- that goes live on January 5th, 2016. If you don’t have a demonstrator, or you are my customer and would like a catalog- please let me know and I’ll get one to you!

2015-16 Annual Catalog, Birthday Party!, card making, Creative Inking Blog Hop, paper crafting, photopolymer stamps, Stampin Up, Weekly Deals!

Creative Inking Blog Hop- Birthday Bash!

creative hop

Hi there stamping friends! I hope you are having a great week! This month our group is featuring Birthday cards for our blog hop! I can’t wait to see what the others are featuring this month.

As many of you know, the past 11 days have been anything but normal while my father has been recovering from his accident, hip surgery, some undetected heart attack(s), and life on oxygen plus helping my mother who has had some chronic health issues herself, plus being short-handed and working long hours at my work has made life very stressful lately… but- there’s good news-my dad is recovering nicely and is more and more “himself” every day. He was just moved to Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday and we are hoping his recovery goes smoothly while he is there. He has a vigorous schedule of OT and PT, and we are so very blessed and thankful for the amazing medical care he has received. Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers, our family appreciates them so much!

Since I have not been home much, nor have I done much stamping lately, I was a little stumped at where to begin when I was preparing for this blog hop, so I thought of one of my favorite new stamp sets … called “Build a Birthday” found on page 11 of new 2015-16 Annual Catalog (item #138646). This set has been so versatile, and really fun and easy to use since it is one of our amazing photopolymer style stamps. That means they are clear- you can see right through them- which makes stamping a breeze! The coordinating products used in these featured cards include the new 2015-17 In-Colors, the Cherry on Top Designer Washi Tape (item #138384) and Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack (item 3 138443). Also, the new 1″ Dotted Lace Trim ribbon is a real show-stopper, it makes every card look more elegant, and is so easy to tie!

Which card did you like the most? I’d love to hear from you- do you own this set yet? If not, it’s a must have- and easily a gender neutral stamp set- it’s nice to have this stamp set so you can make up a bunch of birthday cards to have on hand!

Happy 4th of July Weekend! (and some birthday cards)

Hi there Stamping Friends! Hope you all are enjoying a long weekend, celebrating the 4th of July can be fun- I’m heading up to Cape Vincent for the weekend to spend time with my parents- I packed some of our Paper Pumpkin craft kits, the Cottage Greetings kit, and all my photos and our Project Life line of cards for photo albums/memory keeping. (I’m sad that I’ve finished three albums for other people and haven’t finished my own). So check back next week and I’ll be sharing what I accomplish!

I realized that I never shared my cards from my monthly Stamp-a-Stack class (it’s always the last Monday of the month). Here was our June line up of all birthday cards:

*This last birthday card (the ice cream cone) was CASE-d (Copy And Share Everything) from Erica Cerwin’s blog. Love her work, she is so inspiring! Thanks Erica! This uses our new Ronald McDonald House stamp- $3 of the sale of this stamp set goes directly to RMH and it has a coordinating punch. Love them!

Baseball Birthday Card

ethanbday

Friday was my nephew Ethan’s 7th birthday, and he is a big baseball fan, so I thought this card would be super cute for him for his birthday card this year. It was super quick to make thanks to the Big Shot, the Circle Card Thinlit set (which included that cute mini chevron shape that worked perfect for the baseball), the 2 1/2″ circle punch, the new mini star punch from our new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, the only tricky part was attempting to line up the edge of the piercing template to follow the curve of the ball (I just hand cut that curve from the punched circle).  Saw a card similar on Pinterest, what would I do without that website?

Ethan really seemed to like his card, it was super quick to make.

I had a super weekend with lots of fun with Ethan for his birthday dinner and then the next day his birthday party. I forgot how funny a group of 7 year old boys could be.

Thanks for everyone who signed up for the ribbon share- the order went in last night, I’m so excited to get my hands on all that new ribbon!

I sent my next newsletter out via Mail Chimp, let me know if you’d like to be added to my e-newsletters!

*Don’t forget to save the date- next Monday June 30th from 4-8 pm is our HUGE Indoor Retired Stampin’ Up! and Other Craft Supplies Garage Sale!

Address is 2810 Curry Road, Schenectady NY 12303 (This is the Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary building).

Please help us spread the word! Hope to see you there!
