Stampin Friends New Year Celebrations!

13394008_10154130509756101_1075298454063990110_n

Welcome to our final blog hop of 2016 with the Stampin Friends Blog Hop designers! Our theme this month is New Year’s Celebrations!

I’m sure some of the other Stampin’ Up! demonstrator’s will be using this set too, but I decided to use the frosted medallions stamp set from the 2016 holiday catalog (page 37). This suite of products called “Fancy Frost”, are all retiring. Today’s the last day to order for guaranteed arrival by December 25, the glitter ribbon pack and designer series paper are on sale.

I made a card and a matching gift box perfect for some homemade fudge or candy, this box is 3″ x 3″ and is food safe.

I started by embossing the largest snowflake medallion with our whisper white embossing powder and the heat tool. I embossed directly on our watercolor paper so that it was sturdy enough to withstand lots of water coloring, I used sweet sugarplum and soft sky re-inkers.

It definitely helps to dry the watercolor paper before you try to glue it down to your card base or add any embellishments, ask me how I know (wink).

This could be the end if I wanted a plain and simple card, but I wanted to showcase the matching glitter ribbon and fancy frost sequins so it needed a little more bling.

Once I got to this point I realized I had not saved enough room for the happy new year greeting, so time to move around a few sequins and rhinestones.

What do you think? Do you send cards out to welcome in the new year? I have a little secret to tell you, I have not had a minute to make my own Christmas cards this year so I’m actually thinking of sending out cards in the new year. This might very well be my own card this year, time will tell.

I’m sure you would love to receive all these wonderful prizes, just leave a comment here on my blog and on all the others. Remember to use the #SFDecHop in your comment to be counted.

I hope you enjoyed my projects today thank you for visiting my blog! That’s all for me today, would love to hear what you think! Now, ready to go check out Maureen’s stamping creations?

We Create Blog Hop December 2016

WCBH2016

Hello, and welcome to the We Create Bloggers Hop for December 2016! (Did I confuse you by having another blog hop already today- you see I’m in a few design groups, and when the first of the month falls on a Thursday, well then they will both occur on the same day). Hope you enjoy all the fun projects!

Today I wanted to share with you two fun cards featuring the adorable moose from the Jolly Friends Bundle in the Holiday Catalog. I was thinking of using this guy for my own Christmas cards this year, what do you think?

img_9100

This first card is the simple version, where I was inspired by Diana Gibbs, I water-colored the moose on our awesome shimmer white paper, don’t you just love the new Emerald Envy paired with Real Red for Christmas? The greeting is from the Tin of Tags stamp set, which is adorable (and NOT just for tags at all!)

img_9101

In the stepped up version, I used the new embossing powder on the wreath, it was a little tricky to get it placed strategically. I also fussy cut this moose and colored in his antlers for a different look. And the finishing touch is a real mini jingle bell, love how it looks, what do you think? (this would not go through the US mail very well, it will need a padded envelope for sure).

Creative Circle Design Team-Home for the Holidays

ccdtdec2016

Welcome to the December Blog Hop of the Creative Circle Design Team! Our theme this month is Home for the Holidays.  I thought that our November Paper Pumpkin Kit was a perfect kit for me to showcase this theme. I love how all the pieces are laser cut and in three colors! I created the card exactly as the kit intended, this kit comes with two ink pads: Pear Pizzazz and Dapper Denim.  I even loved the tiny dimensionals that came with this kit!

img_9103

img_9104

I wanted to come up with an alternative project with the kit, and thought of our clear 2″ boxes, I did trim the scene down to 4″ and scored it at 2″ to slide into the box and then included a battery operated candle, for a festive little gift idea.

I hope you like the projects today, I’m sorry this post is so short. My dear mother passed away and we had her funeral on Monday, and I’ve had out of town family staying with me. Although we knew that my mom had terminal lung cancer, nothing really prepares you when it happens. My faith, family, and friends have been of great comfort to me, as well as the sign my mom sent us from heaven within moments of her passing, can you see the angel? The sun was so blindingly bright and the clouds framed the sun immediately looking like angel wings. I know she is no longer in pain and is in a better place, but I am still grieving, and not quite back to all my activities and routines. Stamping has taken a back seat for the past three months, so I could spend more time with her and my family. I’m thankful to my team and customers for their understanding and support during this difficult time.

Creative Inking-Handmade Holidays!

creative hop

Welcome to the November Blog Hop of the Creative Inking Team! This is a blog hop features the work of many talented Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. We hope to inspire you each month with our theme-based projects. Today I am featuring some handmade gifts that you could easily make for people on your gift-list this year…. teachers, coaches, co-workers, bus drivers, neighbors, family and friends will love these little gifts.

First up is a sweet little Christmas card/gift card holder using my new favorite bundle – cookie-cutter Christmas, don’t you just love it?

I find that I am always eager to use all of the stamps in this set, it is so versatile.

A few months ago I was inspired by the 12 x 12″ frame by Sandy Mott (you will hop to her blog next after me today) I decided to make a framed piece that would fit inside and 8 x 10″ frame.

This little Eskimo is my favorite part of this piece, all of the designer series paper was cut to 2 x 2″, and the real red background was cut to 2.25 x 2.25″. I scheduled a class for 11/30 and my customers are selecting between this framed art, or the merry mice I featured the other day. It should be interesting for sure. I’d love to hear from you- what project do you like the most today? You can leave me a comment if you scroll all the way to the bottom of this post, and there is a blank text box you can type in under “Leave a Reply”. Thanks! Also- below the next and previous blog hop buttons, you will find the supply items that I used, as well as more details about our Online Extravaganza that starts at 2 am Mountain time on 11/21.

Stampin Friends Blog Hop-Happy Holidays!

img_4591

Hello everyone and thank you for joining us on our Blog Hop this month! Our theme this month is “Happy Holidays!” I don’t know about you, but they sure have snuck up on me this year. I want to share with you some projects I came up with for my monthy downline get-together. Can’t wait to hear what you think.

For my card, I wanted to show you my favorite new product, the Stitched Shapes Framelits! (They are running out of these beauties- just read an update that they will be “non-orderable” after next week as sales exceeded their projections, so if you haven’t ordered them yet- hurry to my online store to order yours today).

I just fell in love with these Merry Mice stamps! And bonus- they are 25% off until 11/30- along with all the other stamps that coordinate with the new Stitched Shapes Framelits. Yeah!

Side view, so you can see that this is a fun fold card called a Diorama card. What I love most about this kind of fun fold card- it lays flat and is easily mail-able (is that a word?) in our regular medium size envelopes.

Back view so you can see the pocket in the back for a greeting.

To get started making your own Diorama Card you need two pieces of 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card stock (I used Whisper White). Then, using either your paper trimmer, or the Simply Scored board, score each piece at ½”, 1”, 4 ½” & 5”.  Then you just need to “mountain/valley” fold each piece so that it will pop up! I used the new Stitched Shapes squares framelits to cut out the middle and to cut a piece of DSP for a “framed” look on the cover of my card. Save the whisper white piece, as it becomes the piece for the pocket in the back with your greeting.

Also, I designed this framed art piece this fall when we were on our team retreat, and have finally planned a class around it (due to many customer requests)! There is a slight glare, sorry, but I think you can see the elements I used:

This is an 8×10″ frame

Close up of one of the mice. I used blender pens and our Stampin’ Up! inks in cherry cobbler, garden green and smokey slate.

This is my favorite- the caroling mouse- I call him Chester the Caroling Mouse.

What do think?

Creative Inking- Thankfulness Blog Hop

creative hop

Hello Again,

I was in two blog hops that happened to fall on the same day, today! And our theme here with the Creative Inking crew is also Thankfulness… it is such a great theme, and I am full of thankfulness- for my loving family, the doctors and nurses and medical staff who have helped us with my sweet mother’s battle with cancer and my sister-in-law’s battle with Crohn’s disease. The past two months have been a whirlwind of emotions and change for our family, but through it all our faith is sustained. I have needed a lot of cards to express my thanks, if you saw my post this morning, I used my beloved owl punch to create a card and little house. Now tonight, I’m featuring two simple fall cards that you could customize for any occasion!

Today’s card is for the Community Hospice staff who have given my mother such excellent care, just wanted to create something to tell them how much they are appreciated. I hope my card inspires you- is there someone you’d like to thank? I’d love to help you create a special, individualized card of appreciation.

I was so very happy that the Vintage Leaves stamp set from last year’s Holiday catalog carried over to our new 2016-17 Annual Catalog. These leaves are so versatile and there are thousands of ideas on Pinterest with this set. The coordinating Leaflets Framelits dies make cutting a piece of cake with the big shot. (List of supplies is below).  I love this color palette: Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Garden Green. (I water-colored the die cut leaves to give them more texture and definition and so they would “pop”).

by Lynn Streifert www.Lynnzcrafters.com ©Stampin' Up!
This technique is pretty simple, just water color (I used our Aqua Painters) the same color ink that you used to stamp the image. It fills in nicely on the leaves. Be careful to not “over-saturate” the image as this is our very vanilla cardstock- just go over once, or the paper will “pill”. For this card I added a mason jar from “Jars of Love” bundle, I have been noticing lots of different colored canning jars out there. What do you think of this version?

by Lynn Streifert www.Lynnzcrafters.com ©Stampin' Up!

Don’t worry about going outside the lines, you’re going to cut them out anyway. Isn’t coloring relaxing?

Creative Circle Design Team Pop-Up Card… October 2016

cclogo

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for joining our blog hop today! I’m so excited about our newest Designer to join our team- the uber talented Michelle Suit! You are going to love her awesome punch art and Disney creations I’m sure. Today on the blog hop, we are showcasing the very fun Pop-Up Card! It has taken the paper crafting world and Pinterest by storm, and our amazing leader, Liz Holloway, came up with a Silhouette file and sent it to us to create our own versions of a Pop-Up Card! I can’t wait to see what everyone came up with! I decided to use all  new products from the 2016 Holiday Catalog by Stampin’ Up! (if you don’t have a demonstrator and need a catalog, let me know- I’d love to mail you one!)

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

Here is the outside of my card.. does it look spooky?

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

Here is the view of the card as I took off the belly band, you can see the folded insert- it is going to POP-Up…

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

It’s hard to get a full view of the card as it is sooooo big when it is open….

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

Close up of the right side.

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

I stamped all the images in Versamark ink, then used black embossing powder and my handy dandy heat tool to emboss all the images. It made coloring, sponging and shading so much easier!

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

I used Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, and Soft Sky inks to sponge and color in the images and backgrounds (to match the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper).

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

Did you know if you want a “softer look”, you can just put some ink from our awesome Stampin’ Markers directly onto a clear block, then pull the color off with our blender pens and you can create a softer, lighter tone while coloring. I love that you can accomplish great shading with our markers and inks and blender pens!

img_7610

I thought the whisper white paper was too stark, and sponged smokey slate ink directly on my 2 1/2″ squares to give them some spooky effects.

img_7603

This is what my piece of 12″ x 12″ basic black card stock looked like after I cut it on the Silhouette Cameo machine with Liz’s file.

img_7604

Decided to use the specialty piece as my card base, can you see the silver embossing on the spider web? It’s amazing! (cut it 4 1/4″ x 11″)

img_7605

I traced the pop-up portion directly onto my grid paper, cut it out to use as a stencil, then shaved 1/8″ off all 5 sides for my two inserts.

img_7606

Our fantastic Tear-n-Tape is the perfect choice to assemble this card, and ensure nothing comes off (I’m sure this card is going to get opened a hundred times)… just strategically place the tear-n-tape on the non-moving parts. (the two pieces that look like arrows need NO adhesive, or the card won’t open).

img_7607

Assembling the card…

img_7608

The four panel pop-up card insert gets strategically placed and I used more tear-n-tape to adhere them to the pop-up card base. Liz’s video makes this so easy, sorry my photo doesn’t show this step very clearly.

Lynn Streifert ©Stampin’ Up! www.Lynnzcrafters.com

So there it is, my first Pop-Up Card, what do you think?? I treasure your comments, and can’t wait to hear what you think of my Halloween Pop-Up Card! (Comment field is all the way at the bottom of this post).

Ready to go hop over to see what Michelle has created for us? I’m so excited too! Click the image below:   http://www.suitablystamped.com/2016/10/creative-circle-design-team-october.html

We Create Blog Hop October 2016

WCBH2016

Hello there crafty friends,

October 1st sure rolled around pretty quickly and snuck up on me. Today’s offering is a quick post, the format for this hop is usually one project and then a “stepped up” version of the same project. Forgive me, but with everything going on with my family- I decided to share with you my four Make-and-Take projects for my Stampin’ Up! Bingo night last night. I hope you like these offerings, and don’t mind that I didn’t stick to the formula this month. (Sometimes priorities conflict with my time to craft and blog).

So here you go:

It was s “Fall Theme” bingo night.

Basket of Wishes is a fun set to watercolor, and doesn’t it just pop on the shimmer white paper?

Cookie-cutter Halloween is one of my favorite stamp sets in this holiday catalog.

I pulled out the vintage leaves stamps at and matching framelits-it’s a great card for the fall, don’t you think?

I have to admit that I finished these cards on our retreat last weekend and I had some inspiration from another demonstrator -thanks to Debbie Henderson for the awesome inspiration! I love her work and style, and just tweaked two of her cards to fit into my plans for my bingo night.

Also, since today is October 1st, and the Official Celebration of “World Card Making Day”- Stampin’ Up! is kicking off this event with some specials:
