Hi Stamping Friends!

I hope all of you are well, I haven’t had time to blog this past week as my dear old dad had a terrible fall, broke his hip, and then while in the hospital recovering from hip surgery, the doctors detected heart problems. We are so very thankful for the excellent care he has been receiving at Ellis Hospital, and we are hoping they move him over to Sunnyview Rehabilitation tomorrow morning (just waiting for insurance okay). Thank you to all my friends, downline, customers and family who have been praying for my dad, and my family, at this difficult time. It has also been hard on my mom, but luckily we all live very close and are able to juggle work, and hospital visits. Thank you for your positive thoughts and prayers- we could feel them all!

I have had to cancel lots of classes as I am totally zapped (energy wise) and don’t have time for prep and pulling it off. Plus some kits are still on back-order. For this week, I’m just doing my clubs (which were all ready before I headed to Rochester last weekend for my great-Aunt’s memorial service) and one class at the senior center. Otherwise, I’m postponing all other classes until probably September. I will send out emails to those impacted. Thank you for your understanding. Family first, right?

Since I haven’t created anything new in a while, I thought I would share some of the swaps I received at Convention… I hope you enjoy them!

Whirlwind Stampers FUN!

Good morning stamping friends!

Have you missed me? I have been sooooo swamped at work, bringing reports home to read every night, and have ~~little~~ NO time for crafting since I returned from Salt Lake City. (insert sad face)… Luckily we had a team get together at my upline’s house last night, it felt so good to create again, we made three awesome cards and the demonstrators who signed up for Make and Takes also created some other cards with the same stamp set for our inspiration. Here was the line up:

First up is our fearless leader Dania, she made these two cards and the third one was our Make & Take. Love these dinos!! Dania used the new stamp set “No Bones About It”, which made all these cards a breeze since they are the clear (see through) stamps called Photopolymer!

I can think of a few kids who would love this card… how about you?

Next up is the amazing Anne K. I love her style, don’t you? The first two cards were her alternate (inspiration) cards, she used the new “Made with Love” stamp set in the new Annual Catalog and the Mini-Treat Bag Thinlits, (the bottom/last card two views is what we made)… We all thought it was great how she used the Baby’s First Framelits to create a window for the center of the card… and when you pull out the insert, it is a Gift Card Holder!! How awesome, thanks Anne!!

Last, but certainly not least, is the line up from Judy B. She is one of my friends and downline, we were in awe of ALL she made with the new “Awesomely Artistic” stamp set- these are just stunning, and the photos don’t do them justice. The first 13 cards are her alternate inspiration cards and the last one is our Make & Take. Just beautiful, thanks Judy!

*This last one is what we made last night, and the wings of the dragonfly were made by stamping the wings in versamark ink onto vellum cardstock, then iridescent ice was applied and heat set and then “fussy cut” (that means there is no die to cut those out).

Whew, what a line up! It was a great night! Thanks Dania, Anne and Judy!

Tax-Free Holiday in 12 States! (Do you live in one of these states??)

SALES TAX HOLIDAYS

Twelve states are having a sales-tax holiday for school supplies on certain dates in August. The states typically define school supplies as “any items normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.” We are, therefore, limiting our exemptions per the state statute based on item description and price. The following chart shows the basic of the tax holiday per state and this spreadsheet lists the applicable items from the 2015-2016 annual catalog. Please pay particular attention to the dates; all orders have to be entered in the system within each date range–no exceptions–per state statute.

(Be sure to click the word “spreadsheet” that is highlighted above and an excel spreadsheet will open up with the items that are tax free! (adhesives, scissors and some basic supplies).

There are 12 states having a sales-tax holiday for school supplies in the month of August. The dates are included in the table below. Each state has specific rules they consider to be school supplies–this may be by description or by price. The table below shows the items that are included per state statute definitions. The list of items below will be state tax-free during the holiday period. Please note that you must place your order during the tax holiday period (which is midnight on the first day to midnight on the last day of the tax holiday) in order to receive these items tax-free . Also, keep in mind that this is a state sales-tax holiday and may not apply to additional county, city, and special-jurisdiction taxes.

Creative Inking Blog Hop- Favorite New Accessory

Hello Stamping Friends!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend! I am so happy to say I am on vacation, love the “extra time” for that 2nd cup of coffee, chatting with friends on the phone and not feeling rushed, had a 2 day indoor garage sale, and yes- lots of Stamping!! I am so thrilled to back for another 6 months with these awesome, creative, and fun Demonstrators in our next round of Creative Inking Blog Hops! This month the theme is “Favorite New Accessory” from the 2015-16 Annual Catalog. It sure was a close tie for first place, but I decided to feature the new Expressions Natural Elements, our new little wooden cut-outs that are a dream to use (sponge, spritz, emboss or leave plain!) They are item #138395 and just $5 for a pack of 15 elements; you receive 5 each of three greetings: “Celebrate”, “Congrats” and “Thanks”. These are a great bargain and really add a nice touch to those special cards, or gift packaging. Here are just a few examples of how I have used these awesome little accessories. I hope you enjoy my creations and feel free to leave me a comment- I love to hear from you all!

Stampin’ Up! has some great samples for us, how inspirational!

Simple, but sweet, don’t you agree?

The other day we had a retirement party for one of my staff and I made the tag for her “big group gift” from all of us, the “Congrats” element just made this jumbo tag extra sweet, I think.

This card is one of my July club creations, I had so much fun designing this card for my club ladies. We had just learned about the “faux patina” technique at a downline get-together earlier this month, and I am crazy about the new stamp set “Awesomely Artistic” (item #139950 for clear mount). I used Island Indigo ink to sponge some color on my element, but some of the club ladies used the gold embossing powder to emboss their words, stunning! So I decided to try some too.

Just dip the word into Versamark ink pad (I have some craft tweezers I use to keep my fingers clean), then pour gold embossing powder over and heat emboss like you would paper… just use the tweezers again to hold/anchor the little words so they don’t fly all over the place.

So not only did I emboss the word in gold embossing powder, but I added our new gold metallic thread (I love this stuff!) and also stepped up the dragonfly with a layer of vellum wings.

Here’s a close up of the dragonfly, use glue dots, it’s so much easier to hold this together!

Whirlwind Stampers and Some Deals…

Hi there stamping friends! I wanted to share with you a couple of make & take projects from the other night at our monthly get together at my up line’s house, our group is called whirl
wind stampers and boy did we have a lot of fun!

First up is this gorgeous card by our fearless leader Dania, she used a brayer to add color to the Typeset DSP. The set she used is called “The Wilderness Awaits”, #139365 page 86.

(We were cracking up- remember the trendy popular song from last year “what does the Fox say?” Too funny thanks Amye for finding that song!)

Next up was a card by one of our demonstrators named Laurie:

She use the new stamp set called “Wild About Flowers” found on page 74 of the new catalog item #138728 (this set has a lovely retirement greeting perfect as I have a couple of those coming up this month at work).

Our last make & take of the evening was the wow card by Karyn. Her cards are always intricate and full of lots of Sizzix parts look how amazing this card is:

Karyn use the set “From Land to Sea” item #139361 found on page 83 of the new catalog also the cute Sea Street stamp set that carried over.

Hi there Stamping Friends! Hope you all are enjoying a long weekend, celebrating the 4th of July can be fun- I’m heading up to Cape Vincent for the weekend to spend time with my parents- I packed some of our Paper Pumpkin craft kits, the Cottage Greetings kit, and all my photos and our Project Life line of cards for photo albums/memory keeping.
