Mixed Media Fun!

I adore my team and look forward to finding fun, new projects to try with them every month! We meet the last Tuesday of the month at my house. A few weeks ago I saw an ad for the artists canvases at 50% off, and knew I had to find a project for us to do. Of course it had to be Stampin’ Up! theme, and I found an inspiration piece by Lana Horton, and decided to try my hand at this new process. Here is Lana’s original

Isn’t it just gorgeous?? In addition to the canvas I also picked up some new acrylic paints.
I pulled out lace ribbon, antique brads, stamps, stazon ink, and some designer series paper (DSP) as well as my butterfly thinlits dies.

I went with the 8×10″ size canvas.

I played around with light colors over the antique ivory base coat.

Layering paint, lace, DSP, added butterflies, brads and pearls at the end.

When I was all done, I applied Mod Podge (it acts as a sealer and will protect the project from light and help ensure the paper stays adhered in place).

Amye and Tiffany were first up to create their canvases.

This is Tiffany’s masterpiece!

Here is Amye with her creation!

Here is Sharon with her canvas.

Sheila went with the minimalist look, kind of beachy base.

Brigid wanted to finish hers at home (she wanted to add pebbles and shells). I’ll share a photo once I see it.

Just one of the things I love about this team is their willingness to experiment and try new things it’s a little “out-of-the-box ” but they all came out great don’t you agree?

They also made two birthday cards

And we enjoyed cupcakes from Perreccas’s bakery in Schenectady to celebrate Sharon’s birthday.

I like to spoil my team with rewards… This month was a bit more than usual (I like to thank them and show them how grateful and appreciative I am- for being on my team).

Wouldn’t you like to join my team? Just a few more days to enjoy the bonus rewards. I would love it if you became one of my peeps!

Have a glorious day! Thank you for stopping by my blog today!

Bye-Bye Blackberry….

Did you know that the next few weeks will be a mad rush as people stock up on the outgoing In-Colors? Hard to believe, but it’s true! Bye Bye Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow… it’s time to make room for some new In-Colors! I wanted to show you what products are available and urge you to get those Re-Inkers- so your existing pads will last for years to come, without the reinkers, those ink pads will dry up before you’re probably done using them.

There are also some wonderful coordinating products that you might enjoy- that are perfectly color coordinated with this color palette already!

Creative Inking- March Hop!

creative hop

Hello stamping friends! Welcome to our March Creative Inking Blog Hop! The theme this month is #imbringingbirthdaysback (remember when I told you about the movement, the stamp, the mission?? (if not, click here to read the original post). I have to admit, I made a mistake by hitting publish (instead of “save”) back on March 12th- that was the day I was starting to put together the content for today’s post.  Once you publish a blog post, you can’t recall it (my only option was to edit or delete it) and I didn’t want to have to re-type that content again.  So now you already know about Shannon West’s creation and I can jump right into my birthday cards and projects for today!

IMG_1536

My three cards were inspired my the cute little 6″ x 6″ paper stack called “Have a Cuppa”, it coordinates with the new bundle “A Nice Cuppa” stamp set and “Cups and Kettles” framelits. I love the colors in this pad of paper: Basic Grey, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, and Whisper White. I started experimenting with the stamp set “Balloon Celebration” and the coordinating punch – the Balloon Bouquet Punch!

IMG_1537

I took a few hours to just play with the stamp set a few weeks ago, and played around with all the papers, all the stamps to come up with a coordinating set of cards that I could use for this blog post.

IMG_1538

Here’s a little secret- it took me about 6 tries before I got a card design I was happy with, here is a rejected card- see how the balloon strings don’t line up? I also didn’t like mixing the fine tip of the marker with the stamped image.

IMG_1539

Sometimes I play around and make lots of elements (ie: balloons) and then play around with various backgrounds until I’m happy with it. Here you can see the two-step stamped images with the large and small balloons from this bundle. Notice the watercolor wash background? That is pool party ink watercolored onto the shimmer white cardstock. I thought it would pop.

IMG_1540

I loved how this idea came out, notice the thin silver metallic thread? I started using it under the balloon punch-outs, then decided to use it for the balloon strings and bow, I really liked how this came out, what do you think?

IMG_1541

Decided to keep this first card CAS (clean and simple). Love the colors together, didn’t even use the DSP on this card!

IMG_1542

Here is my first card stamped with the #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp! Love it! Shout out to my downline Sharon, she stayed up until 2 am EST the day Stampin’ Up! launched the sale of this stamp, so she could order it for me, what a great friend! Thanks Sharon!

IMG_1545

Next up, this card uses the same Pool Party watercolor wash on shimmer white paper, but decided to try the bunch of balloons out of the DSP and stamped images. What do you think of the mixture?

IMG_1546

decided to stamp a sweet little balloon inside this card with the #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp.

IMG_1543

Last, but not least, tried the cloud stamps and added some bling with the bermuda bay sequin trim glued down strategically.

Cards & Bingo Fun!

Hi there stamping friends, boy did we have a super fun night last night at my second Stampin’ Up! bingo night! This event sold out quickly and with 14 stampers this time I had to get rid of some furniture in the living room to set up a craft table and six chairs. Well let me show you some pictures and see what you think?

I still had a few winter things out so after I took this picture I had to rearrange a little bit.

I went with soft pastels for the color palette and some spring themed cards in between six rounds of bingo!

I just realized in looking at all my photos that we had five mother/daughter pairs in the house for bingo last night!

Do you see the hutch full of prizes? There were eight bundles, seven were for the bingo games and one was for the raffle!

Thanks for the use of your OTT lamp Joan! We really needed it- I’ll have to get one of those!

Here are the four cards we made tonight, are they bright colorful fun spring cards, or what? Which one do you like the best?

First up is one of my most favorite paper pumpkin kit ever!! this kit (from February 2015) contained ingredients to make nine cards! And there’s lots of leftovers, the font is so sweet, plus love these sentiments! 💕

Next up, is a coloring card… You know how adult coloring books are all the rage? Well, this stamp set “swallowtail” is perfect for coloring in with colored pencils, and I sure hope Stampin’ Up! has some coloring pencils or new alcohol markers for us (which is one big reason I wanted to go to Utah next month for our convention – I can’t wait to see the new products we will come out with in June!)

This card I cased from Selene Kempton- I just love the cute little pear! The paper is from farmers market designer series paper in the annual catalog!

Last but not least,  another card that showcased coloring, only this time we used the blender pens. I just love lilacs and although I know they come in many colors, I wanted mine colored in purple, so I selected our wisteria wonder to use to color the lilacs, and crumb cake for the stem.

The first winner of the night was Lisa and she got to pick any bundle she wanted, she picked the bear hugs bundle!

The winner of the second bingo game was Mary Beth and she picked the adhesives, Easter lamb and flowering fields stamp set bundle.

I just love this picture of Courtney, Marilyn’s lovely daughter, and she won the third game of bingo and picked this great eclectic bundle (A stamp set, ink pad, foam pad, DSP, and a pack of glitter tape)

Joan won the fourth game of bingo and picked the bundle “enjoy the little things” kit and stamp set!

I sold extra bingo cards for another raffle, and Addie (Nancy’s lovely daughter) won the prize and she earned $35 shopping spree!

Next up- Nancy won the next round of bingo! She picked out a bundle with stamps and designer series paper!

I did not get a picture of the sixth game winner (which was Mary Beth again), she won two prizes last night!

This picture is of Sheila with her winning for the coverall which was filling her whole board on the Stampin’ Up! bingo boards I made on the computer.

Our first three games of bingo were straight up number bingo, the last three games of bingo were a game I created on the computer with the 48 color names. It was a little hard to try to find the colors so Tiffany gave me an idea of how to structure it to make new game boards, which I will do when we play again in May.

And I don’t have a picture of the last prize of the night went to Sheila for the drawing of all the raffle tickets. People earned one raffle ticket each for: for attending, bringing snacks, ordering from me last night, and Sheila won that prize as well!

And I am so grateful to Tiffany and Mary Beth who helped cleanup and bring everything back up to my craft room last night it was so nice of you guys to help like that I really appreciate it! 😘

Well what do you think? Do you think this looks like a fun night out? We had some wine, wine spritzers, beer, seltzer, water, chips, dip, fruit, veggies, hummus, crackers, meatballs, brownies, cupcakes, cookies, and candy! It was a great snack fest for sure!

I just had so much fun giving away almost $300 in prizes all total!!

Can’t wait to do it again!! I’m looking at the calendar to figure out when in May (I like to skip a month because it is so much work to pull this off.)

I would love to hear from you let me know what you think about my Stampin’ Up! bingo nights would you like to come play?

I hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for visiting my blog today!
