Creative Inking Blog Hop…

Hello Stamping Friends!

Welcome to the first Creative Inking Blog Hop endeavor featuring 13 talented Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. We are excited to share our stamping and papercrafting ideas featuring the amazing products by Stampin’ Up!  A blog hop is a chance to go visit some other blogs that you may not have visited before. It is an excellent opportunity to see a lot of different styles of crafting. I have been following these other 12 demonstrators for several months and they do great work, I’m sure you’re going to enjoy our new monthly Blog Hop!

You should have just arrived here from Colleen Vassos and her blog.  I have never met the other 12 talented demonstrators, but our common denominator is the uber amazing and talented Patsy Waggoner! (I did get to meet her at Convention last year)!  She is a Stampin’ Up! Rock Star who helps create, support and update blogs for other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. Here is her contact info: www.blogsbypatsy.com (in case you need some blogging help). I joined her Facebook group and I learn so much about blogging  just from being a member of that private group. Anyway, another demonstrator suggested we try a blog hop, and since it was one of my New Year’s Resolutions, I signed up right away. We’ve been planning this since just after Christmas. We have a theme for each month, and we’ll be linking up with these cute blog hop graphics made by Amber Swift. So be sure to mark your calendar- we will go live at 12:01 am Central Time on the 20th of each month. (Which is 1:01 am Eastern Time).

Without further ado, here is my post for today. The topic is: Color the World with Blendabilties  isn’t this an awesome theme? I’m ready for more bright colors (and so tired of the snow here in Upstate NY)!

I came up with two slightly different cards to share with you today. They both use the new stamp set Indescribable Gift from our 2015 Occasions (“Spring”) mini catalog. This stamp set has three sentiments for Easter card making, but I decided to use just the flowers for this blendabilities post. I wanted to do this card in two color options, thinking this looked like a sprig of cherry blossoms, what do you think?

First up is the card colored in Pink Pirouette blendabilities (aka “blendies” for short). In the catalog, there is a photo of this technique- using the soft sky blendies to outline the floral design, it gives it a little pop of color, don’t you think? I love the new Hello You thinlit dies, I just needed to trim off a small piece at the end of the letter “s” so it would fit in an envelope.

Here is a close up so you can see how I layered the light and medium blendies for each of the three colors used on the floral image: Pink Pirouette, Old Olive, and Crumb Cake. Only the lightest soft sky was used for the outline.

Next up is the same floral image, this time colored with Calypso Coral, Old Olive and Crumb Cake. I omitted the soft sky outline on this one, as I thought this was “just enough”- what do you think?

I like to start with the lightest color in the set of blendabilities and then apply medium, and sometimes I go back with the darkest color- but I didn’t use that on this card.

*There is still time to “earn” some free items during Stampin’ Up!’s annual Sale-a-bration- a customer rewards event that only comes around once a year. This year Stampin’ Up! has added our original 12 Blendabilities colors to the mini catalog of free choices- you get 1 free item with every $50 products purchased. There are awesome stamp sets, designer series paper, Project Life cards (I blogged about those the other day see this post if you want to take a peek at those awesome SAB items). Let me know if you have any questions about Sale-a-bration, and if you’d like to try to earn some of these awesome products for free!

Well, that’s all I have for you today, I would love to hear from you, I read and reply to every comment. Do you love our new Blendabilities as much as I do?? Here’s an important reminder/tip for all of you who have purchased them (or earned some free from SAB)… remember to store them flat, and double (or triple check) that the cap is applied tightly, you should hear a click… if the cap is not put on tightly and completely, these markers will dry out. I’ve had more than one of these dry up after a stamp camp or class, so I’m now being extra vigilant after others use them. Also, have a scrap paper under the image you are coloring, they do bleed through. Also, you will definitely want to use our Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (not Stazon) so that the ink doesn’t bleed. Hope those tips help!
